extra free stuff

So I pondered buying gas before I drove home yesterday, but figured I could wait and get all the way home. Of course this irritated me a lot when I found out it cost $.09 more/gallon on this side of town. However, due to the extra cost and being so low, I spent $30 on gas. (Which is only the second time I've done this. I do remember being annoyed when I'd spend $20 filling up the jetta... ahh how times have changed). Regardless. BP continued their policy of offering free candy, but aparently ignoring the rules that say 1 per visit, the cashier decided that as you need to buy $15 worth of gas to get free candy I deserved 2. So at least for paying extra I got 2 bars plus another losing ticket for the contest thing.

Just for amusement. I was watching unwrapped on tv (that show that is an ad for all kinds of food) and they were doing croutons. The guy at said crouton factory said 'I want to dispell the myth that we use day old bread - we bake hundreds of loaves fresh daily' During the baking process, they then showed how the bread went into the cooling room. For 24 hours. Then came out, and then they made croutons. Not that resting in a room for 24 hours is day old bread. no. its just umm, rested.

late slacking

So a zillion things. I finished potter at like 5 tonight, then went out to get dinner. Dinner was good, though as it was vietnamese (pho specifically) it was a test as usual in finding things on the menu that I actually liked. It also included iced coffee, which is the 'traditional' kind which is a little stainless brewer that sits atop a glass and drips for about 10 minutes into condensed milk. Good stuff, though rather strong, especially since it makes like 2 oz of coffee, which is mixed with 2 oz of condensed milk, and then I pour it into a full glass of ice. It also points out how its difficult to do something tactfully if you don't know which end is up, like mixing in the ice while holding the empty filter and still needing an extra hand.

I got stuck in a 1 1/2 hour traffic jam friday morning. Oh well. Its the worst one I've been in so far, so I can't complain too much. I got to listen to the radio at 7:30, and then 8, and then a bit of 9, which was interesting since usually all i hear are blips about what is going on then, that I'll never be able to hear. (The vague cause was 2 lanes of I-90 were closed due to line painting I think, then there was an accident, which probably was related to the lane closure, so that left 1 lane out of 4 open. Even if its the wrong direction for rush hour traffic, 1 lane instead of 4 makes a big mess) I probably should have cut my losses and gone on local streets, but I didn't think it'd take an hour and a half to go 2 miles. Oh well. I did manage to average 11mpg then (for reference I usually get 29 or so)

I think there are other things to disuss, but its hot in here and air conditioned elsewhere, which is good enough for me to say its time to get going.

So yeah

I guess its been the week of slacking for everyone. I figure if I say something first, it makes me look less bad.

I think BP has instituted a new policy to make you feel less bad about paying so much for gas. Besides the already mentioned get a free game ticket, if you go inside, they give you a free candy bar. It works for me I suppose, since its not like I'm going elsewhere. Of course you only need to spend $15 to get candy, and as I almost spent $30 filling up, now maybe I should do it twice a week. Such a dilemma.

I got a raise. I'm happy.

About it interesting around here. Oh, I bought a new set of isolating headphones, the ER6-i, which in theory should be better with the ipod. We'll see how that works. sorry for the lack of a link, but I need to get going, they're easy to find if you want pictures.
