Day by Day

Well, since someone needs to do it, here's the day by day discussion of the trip:

Wednesday:Left to go to Akron to go to the airport. Got stuck in traffic in downtown Akron (airport is actually south of Akron, as its Akron/Canton airport, Canton is Akron's Bitch... Barberton is Canton's Bitch, if you're keeping track, Akron is either Cleveland or The Rubber companies' Bitch). Right, so traffic, it wasn't even in our direction, but there was a huge rubbernecking delay, so that took 20 minutes. We left very early, and Crakron is a small airport (10 gates or something) so it wasn't a big deal. Got to the airport, had a hotdog each at the gate, sat around, jen traded seats with someone so their family could sit together, I realized she had an exit row, so I traded with her, thus had more leg room for the trip.

Got to Orlando at 9:30 or whatever, got the rental car, which they said was green, which in theory it was, silver green sebring... anyway. once it was found, uneventful, except that it costs $2.50 in $1, $1 and $.50 increments to get from airport to disney. Stupid penny pinching, especially after they already charged $40 on a $90 car rental in taxes. Checked into hotel, got to room, called Helen + Walter, they were off doing stuff, so just went to sleep after eating at the food court thing at the hotel (Asian food, Bourbon Chicken and Spicy something chicken, both reasonably good)

Thursday: Woke up at 8 something, went and ate breakfast at same place, got lattes that seemed to have a mouse ear shape in them, don't know if was accidental or not) Breakfast uneventful. Went to Disney Quest, the indoor amusement park thing, that's like a Jillians, but you don't pay for the video games. Not a bad deal if included in your park pass, total scam if you pay the $25 extra for it.

Ate lunch also in Downtown Disney (where DQ is) at Wolfgang Pucks. Jen had a 'standard' pizza with mozarella and basil, it was good, I had Ahi tuna sandwich (actual piece of tuna) also good, and rather large plates. Aparently when you take CA cuisine to FL, it stays mostly the same (except for iced tea with oranges in it, instead of lemons) but the portion sizes get huge. End of thursday, tux fitting at Walter's room, then rehearsal dinner. Very good hotdogs and hamburgers, as well as chicken. More excitingly cupcakes with mickey sprinkles. Came home, went swimming. I guess we did that thursday night as well. Quiet pool (small pool, no lifeguard, near room) suposedly closed at 10pm, but people were always in it past then, so we went swimming almost every night.

Friday: Picked up new tux jacket at hotel lobby (old one was too snug, probably because they ignored many of my measurements and just went with standard stuff) Jen went off and got her hair done. Went over to Boardwalk for wedding prep, jen did stuff, I didn't do much except hang out with the other groomsmen. Lots of pictures, then wedding at the wedding pavillion. Went very well, at least by my view. Afterwards transfer to dance hall for reception, also went well, good food as well. Took requisite pictures of cake, because person jen works with is aparently into cake decorating and was interested.

After reception (and dancing due to 'staged' song requests) went to epcot for dessert, then went outside to watch fireworks. Started raining just around time of fireworks starting, were handed ponchos from Disney folk, watched fireworks in rain. Went home extremely tired, but after having a great day. Oh, amusing to watch as Helen + Walter walked through epcot (we went in through a side entrance by Norway) and people would randomly see her dress and start clapping. I guess its hard to be stealthy in a wedding dress.

Saturday Woke up a bit early, went to epcot. Wandered around, did lots of rides, did the fastpass thing to get in line. Around noon at lunch in Moroco, then decided to take ferry/boat thing to MGM. Did a few more rides at MGM, then decided were tired, went back to hotel. Went swimming in normal pool, had snack from pool snackbar. Dinner was at California Grill at Contemporary Resort. As Helen's dad put it, contemporary as in Jetsons, not as in current. Anyway, excellent, very good flavors, nice atmosphere, etc. Stayed through 10pm fireworks (magic kindgom 'wishes' show) which watched from rooftop viewing platform in minor drizzle. Menu - Quad cheese flatbread appetizer, mushroom soup/sonoma goat cheese ravioli (really only one - raviola?) NY Strip with more mushrooms/copper river salmon with avocado stuff, chocolate torte/cherry napolean. Went home very late, like around 11 something, fell asleep immeditely. No swimming.

Sunday Got up super early to get to magic kingdom at 8, for 'magic hour' of extra hour for disney resoort guests. Ran around, probably a bit too much to get to a bunch of rides. Including the now very slow seeming race cars. I think I push the lawnmower faster then they actually go. After lunch (chicken fingers + fries) at something charthouse or something, back to hotel. Accidental 3 hour nap. Back to Downtown disney to do some more shopping, but first a snack (by now 5 PM or so) at the Earl Of Sandwich shop, the first US store of a British Chain (which I can't find the website for) owned by the actual 11th Earl of Sandwich, and some Earl guy who deals with planet hollywood. Good, especially for $5, and a very nice tomato soup for $.95 and an earl grey/lemonade mix drink thing. Amusing to have both French's yellow and Grey Poupon on the table. Did some browing of various downtown disney stores, jen got some gifts, I bought a mickey to hang on my backpack. Went directly to Grand Floridian to have dinner at Narcosee's, a fish place. Was supposed to be Prix Fixe of 4 courses, but they didn't have that option, so we chose 3, and it was less expensive anyway. Field Green Salad/Yellow Gazpacho, Scallops/Swordfish with sweet potato 'hay' that waitress said didn't taste like sweet potatoes, but totally did, much like mash potatotes taste similar to french fries, so I didn't eat that, key lime creme brulee/berry pyramid. Oddly, out of the two 'sit down, beg for priority seating, etc' restaurants, california grill was way better, but cost exactly the same, and from what I hear from the priority seating acquiring half of our party, about the same difficulty to get. So there's a bunch of 'midprice' ($20-$75 or something/person) restaurants, but California grill is just better? Doesn't make sense, but seems the case. Almost went swimming when coming home, but decided to pack instead. Got gas on way back to room, hoping the 29 miles to airport wouldn't drop the gauge too much

Monday Left stupidly early, got to airport, gas gauge was fine, returned car, checked in. Found out plane was delayed 30 minutes. Got some coffee and breakfast and waited. Plane left about 30 minutes late (10:30ish) due to delays from yesterday messing up crew schedules. Got to Akron on time though (12:30ish) , drove home, stopped at chipotle for lunch came home in time for a huge downpour, got wet coming inside, then it stopped raining. Nothing else to report. Blogged a bit, or a huge amount, depending on view. End of Story.

Right

Left.

We're leaving, like now. I don't know why I'm blogging this, but you know, its relevant, and we're not bring a computer, so that's it for blogging.

Off to that stuff

Well, so its the last entry before the big trip. Very exciting.

I hope I find more interesting things to talk about, because this has been really lame for the last few days, weeks, whatever.

Besides that, sometime this evening (9ish) we'll be in Scenic orlando airport. Wahoo. About it from there, so I'm off to work.

never wakeup

I really didn't feel like waking up. Which could explain why I have all of 2 minutes to get ready. Which is now one minute, because I spent too much time putting on my socks. Sad really.

Of course since Helen has foreshadowed exciting blogging once I return from FL, at least everyone has something good to look forward to. Besides this. Which is just boring.

behold the power of cheese

I'm not sure what that has to do with anything, except that there's some bagels leftover from the market, so I can go have one before I leave. Of course assuming I leave somewhat on time, that is always the difficult part. I'll try and make it work.

Besides that, its just busy stuff getting ready for florida. It was a nice weekend, to discuss the perma-boring thing of the weather, since it was sunny and in the 70's almost the entire weekend. of course this didn't yield tons of amazingly exciting things, but enough to keep the lawn happy and things cleaned up around the house. and to find out that somewhere (probably one of the cable boxes) is busy putting out voltage that was enough to shock me when I went and tried to upgrade the cable splitter so it could handle digital cable, in an attempt to fix the reception. Perhaps the random extra voltage has something to do with this? Anyway, I'll deal with it later, since when its grounded to the incoming signal it goes away anyway.

special K red

I've always actually liked special K red berries, (why its not officially special K strawberries I have no idea, leaving room for expansion I guess) anyway, because its actually good, is why I went and tried the vanilla one, which is nasty. Similar problems of course you may remember with the bananans and cornflakes. Stupid rock hard banananas. Of course the downside of all of these cereals is they cost way too much. Fortunately, with planning and stocking up at Marc's they're only like $2.50-$2.80, so it becomes a bit more reasonable. I do however think there will soon be no difference between the trial size packages and 'full size' just so they can keep the prices low, you'll get one serving out of a box, but at least it won't cost $10. Stupid expensive cereal.

Well its friday, Payday, all that jazz. Nothing really exciting to report, but mycheckfree.com (which is quite handy if you have the bills they let you pay) is being very annoying, and making you play their stupid game to get anything done. I understand they want to increase business, but pissing off the current customers while doing it is a pain in everyone's ass. Oh well.

Soda Bottle bottoms

So in the middle of a discussion of wireless data loggers in a meeting yesterday (anyone need something you can stick in side of a can of tomatoes, and record the temperature as its being cooked and canned?) the amusing story of packaging soda came up. Of course there were references to things I don't really remember at all, like pull tabs, and when the bottle caps has cork in them. But the thing I do remember is when they had a different color (and type) base on the bottom of the all the bottles. Ahh the memories. And the general amusement at the not very exciting world of packaging.

Since we're all keeping track of wedding prep, I have my haircut today. It should be exciting. I did the tux reservation yesterday, (I tried to do it on time on monday, but they closed early, and the online method failed, and then they were closed tuesday, so its very difficult to get in touch with them) but in the process they managed to call walter, to tell him I hadn't reserved. So he called me at like 3:30, to say I hadn't reserved, when I had at like 10:45. Very confusing, but I think its all settled. With that, I need to get some more cereal from downstairs to take to work. As far as cereal advice, special K vanilla almond is kinda gross, so I'm reccomending against it.

Bordem

I think I already have an entry called bordem, but oh well. Its just that kind of week. I think there's just nothing happening except getting ready for next week, which always seems to get put off. Maybe its just the summer time stuff.

In any event, with all the bordem, there's just not much incentive to wake up very early and everything, so I didn't, and now I have to leave in a minute, so its not going to be a long entry either. I don't see this as a huge problem, because who wants to read about nothing for a long time anyway?

missed day

Well I was going to post something yesterday, but I felt like crap when I woke up, and debated calling in sick. I decided against it, figuring I could always leave early anyway. I felt better shortly after I got to work, so I stayed there. But it didn't leave time for blogging, so that didn't occur.

In other news, there isn't much exciting going on. I noticed seagate has released 400gb drives. This could be relevant, since Slupet is almost 6 years old, it might be time for a new computer, but probably not until after August (the 6 year birthday anyway) since I should save up as much as possible for the car. Of course I can't actually justify a new computer, so we'll have to see how it is, a few grand to do not much else then I can do now seems rather dumb.

On the subject of not dumb, gas prices have come down, I filled up for less then $20 again (Gas was $1.69) which is handy, since I was starting to worry if I should get a Cooper instead of an S to save on all the extra gas expense I seem to end up with driving to work all the time.

Finally, I think its time to go to work, nothing really exciting, but its the last full week for a long while, with the wedding and july 4th weekend and all, I should show up for the whole thing, just to you know, be there.

gmail confusion

Ok, so aparently my offering of gmail is popular, this has one problem, I have no idea what anyone's email address is anymore. So therefore, if you want it, you'll have to IM Me a working email address, since you haven't emailed me in a while, or I just lost your address.

In other news, its friday, which is exciting. I think today's free lunch (in honor of SMC valves, in the event that anyone is keeping track) is burritos from don tequila's. No one seems to know if this is good or bad, except that the people in the model shop love the place, so they suggested it.

Beyond that, I believe its time to get going. Ohh, the ceiling hole where a foot (more like leg) went through it is almost fixed. It takes a while to get it perfect, but I think its nearly where you can't tell it occured.

Space time continum

I'm not sure how exciting that is as a topic, but its not really relevant to much, so I won't make a big deal about it.

In other news, I got more gmail invitations, though I'm not sure what to do with them, even with them suddenly becoming really common, jen is almost finished selling hers on ebay, so maybe I should try and sell some of mine... Its all very complicated.

I managed to continue the free lunch thing, at like 11:45 I got invited to some presentation of control and electronic stuff, which had pizza (a bit annoying since Pizza was Tuesday's lunch, but I managed). Its a banner week for free food I guess. Of course I don't really think I can subsist on pizza all the time for lunch, but I think it will be less likely, and it does keep changing whose pizza it is, so it stays a bit interesting.

Anyway, there was dumb traffic yesterday, so I'm going to try and leave a bit early to make it better. The stupid sun rising earlier has made things shift to summer hours, so my 7:30-4:30 plan isn't very early anymore.

Excitement

Very exciting Luke got a job! I had applied to the patent office a few times, but they never called me back, aparently he has that special touch (or whatever the french word is that I'm not going to try and type, even if I can say it). DC is a pretty cool city, it may not rock, but its fun, and the weather is better then anything stuck on a great lake.

So besides that, the free food thing is working out, of course as I save lunch prices, I'm not sure what do with the extra cash, maybe I should start a free lunch jar and put $4 or $5 in it each time I get lunch, then go and buy something... Hrm.

Besides that, I guess not much else is happening, so its off to work again! I need to choose a new box of cereal to bring, I've run out at work.

Free lunch

So I was thinking, yesterday (which turned into a 10 1/2 hour day, but I need to make up some extra time anyway, and there wasn't any traffic on the way home, which was a nice change) I got subway (blech) for lunch. Today I have some meeting for something or other, but it includes lunch. On thursday, a vendor is coming in, and that includes lunch. That's 3 exciting days of free lunch, but breakfast type stuff thursday (for the company safety breakfast) and donuts (for the monthly safety meeting). I guess its not a bad deal. Of course I still need breakfast today, so I need to hurry up and deal with that.

In other news, the current color of the car is Hyper Blue, but no one's positive if that will actually exist for July builds, I'm hoping it does, and soon I should be able to check my specifications online, which will help with that. I'll update as necessary on any changes.

Other then that, nothing too exciting. When I get home at 6:30, there isn't a lot of time left, if I'm planning on going to sleep around 10, but its a living I guess.

Onward to PA

Today's exciting activity is going to visit Corry PA, which is like 30 min SE (in the middle of not much) in pennsylvania, to visit a company there. Its only a day trip, but I'm not sure how much fun it will be to ride (fortunately 3 people don't fit in my car, so I don't even have the option of driving) for 2 hours each way to there. If I think about it logically of course, I still get paid, so its not a bad deal. The last time we went on a trip, I fell asleep, and aparently started snoring, but hey, getting paid to sleep isn't a bad deal.

The other issue is the exit off of 90 is the same one as the nicer of the two Erie wegmans. Sad really, since I think the best place to eat in Corry is Perkins, which of course seems to be quite the joke amongst the people who live there. Yech. Free food is good, but at perkins? oy.

I hope I survive, but in any case, I need to get to work on time, so I can get in the car and wait.

Oh, and I ordered the car on Saturday, it should be here mid-late august. Rather exciting, more details to follow.

End of weekeness

Is there an extra e in weekeness? Whatever. There's nothing really exciting happening, I took out the garbage, aparently the rest of mulletville doesn't read schedules, and didn't realize it got postponed by a day due to holiday schedules. So they had left it all on the sidewalks and treelawns stinking up the place for an extra 24 hours. It got me worried, but nothing was picked up yesterday, so I feel vindicated.

Besides that, the only other interesting thing is after gettting burritos on wednesday night, we went to get coffee, which was fine, so I ordered an iced latte. This was good, except the barrista making it had no idea how to do it, so the manager told her. She then proceeded to take a pitcher of milk, and turn the steam up way too high, which then sprayed all over her hand burning her. I'm not really sure what to do in a situation where she's steaming milk that she didn't even need for the drink and then goes and gets burnt. The best situation was taking the drink and leaving, since its not really our problem anyway, and she wasn't horribly burnt. but eek. 0 days, 0 minutes without an accident, no wonder starbucks doesn't have counters like that.

Halfweek over

I guess the real perk of a 4 day week, its half over pretty quickly. Of course that doesn't necessarily make it a good thing, since this occurs on wednesday afternoon, which is later then the usual wednesday at noon. But I'm not really complaining.

I am however complaining that traffic seems to be getting earlier. This is decidely annoying, and I'm not sure what to do about it. I could either leave earlier still, or well I dono, just suck it up?

Tonight's garbage night. I think I'll try and clean more of the garage, you never know if someone's Ram Charger might have 'issues' on its trip from MN to Rochester, and need to hang out in the garage. That and it needs to get cleaned anyway.

Oh well, don't want to be late for the traffic, so got to get going.

logic...

So on Monday, I got like 6 hours sleep, and was sorta tired, but just woke up. Today I got like 8 1/2, and am just totally blah. I guess I need 10 hours of sleep. Or to get used to some normal amount. Or to just admit I'll always be tired.

In other news, the only interesting thing I can think of is more limited editon candy. This weekend's finds were kit kats with more chocolate between the laywers (pretty good) and york patties that had chocolate pepermint, instead of the normal mystery white. Not as good, because you miss the cool feeling. Its like falling into chocolate, instead of whatever they think you should be doing, skiing, or jumping into an ice bucket, you know the idea.

Finally, the color matched interior logic, I'm not even sure if Hyper Blue is available until january, don't have a good source for info on that yet, but besides that, I'm still in a toss up. Every car has a black and gray interior... Its pretty boring, which I realize can be a good thing, but sometimes boring is bad. Oh, so many decisions! I could always get the blue seats, but that makes the whole stupid door blue (I think...) and the carpet. which is even more blue, except you're not looking at it all the time.

The unhappy Tuesday

So its been a while since I didn't get enough sleep, but I guess it harks back to the old days, when I slept too much on weekends, and then monday morning didn't feel like waking up at all, especially since I went to sleep late. The same applies for Tuesdays in the event Monday was a holiday. I think the key in this situation is that it means the week is short, and thus I'm closer to the weekend anyway.

Now I know there was other stuff I was going to mention, because really, a weekend filled with things like changing the 7's air filter, and doing some priming just aren't interesting at all. Unfortunately, I have no recolection what I actually was going to discuss, and because I didn't feel like waking up, I don't have tons of time to discuss it, so ohh well. The upside, is it seems like it will be a nice day, so that makes up for some of it. That and the sooner I get to work, the sooner I can get some coffee. So I'm off to do that now.
