I still can't find my belt. I should do that this weekend. Anyway, so I woke up early (well technically on time) for the first time in a while. Its very exciting, but I don't really have much else to do. I was thinking of getting coffee, but even though I drive through downtown and the entire east side of Cuyahoga county, I don't really stop by anywhere to get it easily. Stupid plans.
In other news, I need to figure out what to do this weekend. Not very exciting really, but you know, its a weekend, so I should do more then watch tv, or the other boring stuff.
I cleaned the car out yesterday, but I didn't take the ice scraper out. I'm not sure if I'll regret that or not. I guess logically, I'll have the new car by the time I need an ice scraper, but you know, those late spring storms can be annoying, and its not like it warms up all that much by 6:30 usually.
So the lawnmower is approximately 5 years old, which isn't bad, except it cost like $100 back then. Suffice it to say, its not happy. I finally got it started yesterday, by locking the safety handle closed, and then priming it while it was running for 5 minutes. Otherwise it'd stop running after a few seconds. Blah.
Of course I think its getting better, and its not really worth spending $40 to get new blade, filters, oil change, and plug. But who really wants to spend $100 or more on a new lawnmower? Such a dilemma. It would be nice if the person who indirectly worked for MTD got a discount, but she doesn't, so we're just stuck. Blah. I hope next week (assuming the grass grows fast, it certainly did the last few weeks... ) it starts and is happier, I spend $1.50 and poured in the 1/2 a bottle of carb cleaner additive for 20 gallons into about 1/4 of a gallon of gas that was in the tank. Either it will clean it well, do nothing or cause more harm, which might entice a new mower purchase. Oh well, off to work now, don't want to be late.
ahh, interest history. aparently the lycos.com domain is for sale. odd one of those key pieces of old internet stuff is off to get sold to someone who is dumb enough to pay $200 million for something most people can't even remember. go figure.
In other news, the 1/2 day aka dr's appointment was uneventful. there was some dissapointment at not getting a burrito afterwards, but only because i finished at 10:15 and they don't open until 11. I'll make up for it though, so no one needs to worry.
So we have a digital camera at work, which is an old style olympus 1.4 pixel huge thing. The best part of it, is that it has a 4 meg smartmedia card. You can take 5 pictures before it fills up the card. How uhh, useful. Karl said he was thinking of getting a new one sometime soon.
Nothing else really interesting is happening, its another garbage day, but I'm not sure what will get thrown out. it might be something interesting, but I don't know what classifies as interesting. And old box of stupid stuff, or the waterbed mattress? Its all very confusing to keep it exciting. Oh well, running out of time, and I need to get gas on the way to work. I think. Unless I'm feeling dangerous, then maybe I won't.
So having a dr's appointment is a lot like being unemployed. Miracuously [sic] I can wake up 1 1/2 hours late, and then sit around doing web stuff and the like until I really need to go somewhere. Its kinda a nice deal, and I still get paid for it, quite spiffy. Maybe I should schedule more appointments at oddball times like 9am.
So I didn't say anything yesterday, because I got up a shade late (you know how mondays are) and then couldn't find my ID card for work. I did find it just as I had given up, and was going to walk out without it. But then I went and left my lights on at work again, which is embarrising. I never really did that with other cars, I guess because its sorta dark when I leave for work, but sunny later, I just forget. Honestly I have no idea, but its almost becoming an epidemic.
I have the usual can't eat for 12 hours before my appointment, so I'm starting to get a bit hungry, but not sure what I'll eat after them. I think the general leaning would be Chipotle, since they're right around the corner, but you never know what will seem good at that time. Ok I think its highly unlikely I'll end up going for some 0 carb pork rinds, but besides that, there's variability.
We finally bought the tickets to florida last night, it was exciting, except we're flying out of Akron/Canton, which is a teeny airport (vs Cleveland which as most people know is mid to large) so that's good, I think, except instead of 10 minutes to drive to CLE its like 45 to drive to CAK. But parking's cheaper. Of course parking gives you a weekly rate, which is 5 times the daily rate. But we're only going for 5 days, so there goes that discount. I guess you can never win would be a good logic here.
So I went and put down the deposit for an '05 MINI yesterday, but the dealer is still confused as to when this will occur, I think its most likely to be built in July, so I'd get it in August, so still around the time of the Brotherly Lotus. Other then that, I believe nothing interesting is happening, so I need to get ready to go, and try not to think that I'm hungry. Since I doubt I'll eat anything until 11 or so.
I was running very late yesterday, so I'm trying not to repeat that. Though most of the lateness was really due to needing to get milk + cereal and stuff ready. Which isn't really the fault of blogging, except that it took longer then it was supposed to.
In other news, but not very exciting for the CIF contingent, my indirect connection to a google employee (former ciffer who I never met) has yielded me a position as a beta tester for gmail. But since I fell asleep early last night and am in a hurry, I'll have to set it up later. I was thinking stryder as an account name (assuming I can choose it) but anyone have any other suggestions?
From the stalking front: we always knew the interweb had info on people, but it seems to be getting easier. Take someone who say has vonage, and never had a phone line in their name, so you can't find them by the phone book. Try here: find people, for someone like walter with a unique name, and it in theory finds everyone in the US, which is rather effective. At least if you pay them the $8 for the report, which I haven't done. Oh well, time to get to work, gotta be somewhat on time you know.
I need to think of something creative to say, but I'm not feeling very creative. I will blame this on my needing to remember to bring more cereal + milkl to work. I forgot yesterday, and ended up with that annoying mess where you're trying to balance not very much cereal, with even less milk. So I had a small bowl of sludly cereal that was still above the milk. It didnt turn out well, and then I was just waiting for lunch so I could actually eat something. Such a problem I know.
In other news, I can't think of anything. Besides the quote from the queer eye on tuesday (that we just got around to watching) 'did you buy that at the huxtable yard sale?'
I thought it was funny, regardless of context.
Uh oh, I need to get to packing stuff for work, I don't want to run into traffic because I was busy pouring milk. It'd be a bit too much of a pathetic excuse I think.
Well, so I didn't feel like getting out of bed, and me and the snooze button has quite the conversation. (not about my bad grammar mind you). Anyway, so I need to be quick, to avoid being late to work. But oddly, for once I'm looking forward to my Dr's appointment next tuesday, since its at 9, too early to go to work and come back for, but late enough that I can sleep in. very exciting.
In oher news, if you like posits or balloons, its pretty funny.
Aparently ping pong balls are a popular trick at my office, but no one's done anything since I've been there. I guess it was good they forgot when my birthday was. Other then that, and it being the exciting day of the week - garbage day (but I'm not sure what's getting thrown out, besides the waterbed mattress, and probably the fan blade that uhh, fell, off) I don't want it to be a waste of a wednesday.
Well after yesterday, that was generally rather hot, its an interesting mix that today is rather cool. It doesn't really affect much, as we still needed the ceiling fan on so it wasn't unbearably hot. Of course that has now become problematic, as when I was stretching to put on my shirt, I hit the fan while it was spinning. Not normally a problem, except that this time it decided to break off the blade, and then of course (for the 5 seconds until I turned it off) start wobbling uncontrollably. Ooops. Need to get that fixed now. But its not very interesting to see a 3 bladed fan, like a hole in the ceiling, so I don't think there will be any pictures. Besides, I still need to get dressed and ready for work, so that's a priority.
In other news, I'm a bit annoyed about mouse purchasing, the new micro center catalog came yesterday, and they're excitingly calling it microsoft week. Which includes all of 3 objects, but one of them is the intellimouse explorer with tilt wheel for only $26. I remember back in the day when my intellimouse was like $75 and I was happy to get it for $50. Oh well. I should probably just finish getting ready for work, and go and decide on a new fan....
home improving weekends always seem to drag on. Even if as in this case, they're really only 2 days, it just seems like an eternity. This might also have something to do with my not being able to find my shoes again. I'm really puzzled at how I lost them now, but I can't even remember back to friday to recall what I did with them.
So besides that, a bunch of things got done, but nothing exciting, there was some moblogging, your usual weekend I guess. This week shouldn't be anything worth mentioning, except the weather seems to be doing ok, supposed to be above 50 all week, and in the 70s today and tomorrow. I guess that means I should be happy, but I'm not sure if I have enough short sleeved shirts to go around, might have to do some shopping. Regardless, its time to go find my shoes. I think that's long overdue.
So I tried to do a bit of moblogging yesterday, but its very difficult to take a picture of another car's license plate while driving, so I don't think it even came out. Sorry about that, it was like an accord with something about it being the most wonderful car on the plate. I can't remember exactly, but it was rather pathetic.
I forgot (because my computer died and I couldn't blog yesterday) to with TOWM a happy birthday... But since he wasn't online yesterday, I guess its not too late.
The extra large size reeese's peanut butter cups that sams sells are good. Its not extra large in every direction, just taller, which allows more peanut butter, but still approximates the correct ratio. you should try them.
Random interesting web sites - (from maxim, but I think most of you don't read this, so its useful)
http://www.80stees.com/ I can't remember the one that sold plastic sushi, I'll have to look it up later, but now I need to leave. It should be an exciting weekend of getting some things done on the house as well. wahoo.
I didn't feel like waking up today. So now I don't have much time to do this blogging thing. I don't see that as a horrible problem, but I really do need to sort out why I'm so tired. I'll keep blaming it on the sun. I guess in a week or two it will be back to getting light when I wake up, so that should help. Theoretically of course, I'll have to check back in on that logic if I remember it.
I know there were other things I was going to mention. Wednesday should be more exciting then just garbage day. Although that is rather exciting, since great progress is being made on that front.
I guess I will just have to try harder to remember what it was I was going to talk about. blah. Oh, I did some updating of the links again, which is probably obvious, and I was going to change the order around, but I'm quite happy with how the varying lengths of the links make a nice pattern on the right side. Very exciting I know, especially since I think I should admit it wasn't intentional. Oh well, time to get going, I need to remember to grab my snickers marathon bar on the way out, I forgot one yesterday and was hungry. (They do taste good, for anyone who was wondering, although at like $.90 each if you buy an 18 pack at sams, they're not cheap compared to granola bars)
well, so I had my concert yesterday, which was the last of the season. Which is good, but a bit sad. Now I have more time to deal with whatever on Mondays because I don't spend 2 1/2 hours at Band. The other minor (but relevant) issue was I had a rehearsal at 4, so I had to leave work at 3:30 to get there, which meant going in early and borrowing some of lunch, so I didn't feel like posting at 6. I was a bit too tired and grumpy, and in a hurry.
Hrm, other news isn't very exciting. Its another week, but this time a bit rainy, which makes it a bit downtrodden.
I'm hungry. I guess getting up so early yesterday screwed up my breakfast schedule. I think I should bring something different to work for breakfast, I only brought frosted mini wheats yesterday, I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to them. So many cereal decisions, but I don't want to fill up my file cabinet with cereal boxes. (I've heard I'm bad at that) so I need to be careful and limit my selection. Oh well, Its time to get going, I maintain that I'll get more sleep tonight. Even though there's a new queer eye, it can get taped, and bed at 9 or something else happily early.
well, I know this will probably make you hungry (though I guess it made me hungry, but I'm more tired then hungry. stupid waking up. but that's a different discussion) but aparently sushi is almost always frozen. who knew? And if you're too lazy to register for the NYTimes link, well then whatever, its frozen.
In other news, since I woke up so late, I don't have time to say much else. Went to a cleveland barons game last night, which was reasonably fun, but they didn't win, instead it was a tie. At least they played reasonably well this time. The last game they had some issues. Hrm, so I dono if I'll end up taking tomorrow off. Its still a bit up in the air, but not a big issue. So If I don't blog, then well, I probably took it off. But maybe I'll post a few new pictures or something. I really should stop carrying two phones though in any case, because its getting very annoying on the pocket front.
I think its very good I don't have much to do at work today, because for some reason I'm quite tired. Maybe it has to do with staying up till all of 10 last night, but for whatever reason, yowza. Maybe I'll wake up on the way to work or something, but blech. Or I could blame it on the darkness, which is slowly leaving, but when I wakeup its still dark, and I still need to have my lights on to go to work, or I can't see the gauges. Blah.
In other blahness, I don't actually think the color on the picture is perfect, as the cube isn't really gray. The metal parts (poles and such) are actually a light tan. For comparison sake, the monitors are actually silver. So its all a bit off, which is probably because the lighting is odd.
But yes, it is corporate like, and remotely clean, but I had just moved in, and I don't really have enough stuff to fill up all the storage spaces yet. Its a bit messier at the moment because there's paper piles collecting, but generally when I'm bored on a friday I'll clean it up. Its been working pretty well. We'll see how that continues, but that's a different story.
Well so today is tuesday. I guess I should explain a bit more about the phone. Its a camera phone, so in theory, I should be setting up a moblog here: http://hrmph.textamerica.com I may move that back into hrmph.org at some point or whatever. In any event, there's nothing there now, but I'll try and take a picture of my new cube this morning, we'll see how that goes.
Also, mental note - its embarrising to leave your car lights on, and I'm not sure how I did, but I did yesterday, so I had people sneaking up to me telling me about it. Oh well, Its my fault anyway.
Uhh, my cell phone # is changing, because I didn't want to port my old one, (it was too much effort and the new # is cooler). I'll get it posted soon, but if you need it for some reason, you can just ask me.
Ok, time to get to work, its a busy tuesday. We have some meeting with the higher ups that no one seems to know about. Very exciting.
for those of you who are avid readers, you may recall how annoying it was to drive to work in the dark every day. Thankfully this ended several weeks ago. Unfortunately, this whole time change thing has made it a reality once again. Highly annoying. I hope the sunrise moves again quickly.
In other news, its the offical first day of Jen's job at Shiloh. Very exciting stuff. But I'm sure all will go relatively smoothly.
I can't find my black belt. You may recall how I had lost my belt for a while, but that was the brown one. I wonder how much of a faux pas it is to wear a brown belt with gray pants. I suspect I shall find out, since I don't anticipate finding the black one in the next ten minutes. Speaking of ten minutes, I can't also seem to remember if I have milk at work. This greatly affects my cereal consumption plans, but I don't want to have two bottles of it. A dilemma at its core. That and I'm finally moving to my offical spot. Should be exciting, I actually get a view of the window, though I don't sit next to anyone anymore. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but at least the color changed to a light blue from the dumbly patterned tan that the old cubes were.
Oh well, I have a busy week ahead, so I should probably get going. It makes it easier to curse the darkness.
So its been like 2 1/2 months since I got a job, and I swear I haven't used any mesurable amount of shaving cream. (Gel really, but lets not get picky) I even shave 5 days a week (I am quite happy I'm not relegious and needing to shave on weekends). How can the stuff be so long lasting? I go through a bunch of obnoxiously expensive blades, but gel is everlasting. Oh well, its a scam I say. It lasted forever when I didn't shave expect for special occasions or after a week, but I figured with a job it'd be different. I'll have to start measuring it and seeing if there's any weight loss.
In other news, I think I'm going to get a new phone. Its especially handy to do today, as both of the Sr. Engineers + my Boss are off at Case for some presentation type thing. (I'll ignore that I have no idea why I wasn't invited, but I'm not really crushed, perhaps I'll go next year). Anyway, so I was thinking of a v600, because motorola finally got off their ass and made a phone with a camera and bluetooth and other spiffy stuff. Of course the downside is its AT&T wireless, because its quad mode GSM. But hey, isn't that what number portability is for? Anyway, here's a link that should work, otherwise just got to www.attwireless.com and search for it. Gotta get to work. Its a friday! Or right, link.
So in the middle of a hugely long discussion about CIF stuff on the various CIF lists, Someone (gary A. for those in the know) emails me to ask about Case, because he's thinking of going to law school there. random.
Oh well, so I ended up writing him an email, which took up most of the time budgeted for blogging, so you should email him and complain. However I can't put up his address, as he'll get spammed into oblivion, and that would be mean. I know.
Note thinkgeek's front page:
Umm, about it. blame gary. And canada, I think they did something too, but I forget what.
