so i meant to comment, zimmer actually makes a good amount of money, somewhere around $70,000 in profit for each employee last year (calendar year). this is good news. i also got my suit, which seems to look just fine, (it does look much better hung up then sorta rumpled waiting to be cleaned). so now we just need to hope monday goes well.
on other things, i was all set for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, then i realized i have no peanut butter. aparently right now i have a bought of hiccoughs, which is like the third time tonight. i wonder if this is related.
some random cleveland headhunter called me sometime this afternoon, i'll have to call him back tomorrow and see if that goes anywhere. the call this morning for the sales job was lame. i don't want to, nor am i any good at sales.
stupid hiccoughs.
walter still hasn't updated. i think he's a total slacker, even more slackerish then my slacking.
i need to get a haircut tomorrow. that's always fun.
aparently there's now a metallic silver sharpie. how long has this taken them? its been eons since paint pens existed, why did it take the sharpie people years for them to make something similar.
ok, i'm going to go drown my hiccups.
best use for a metallic sharpie
1. drawing on monitors
2. painting black cars
3. reminder notes on 5 1/4" floppies
4. speaker grille designs
5. chewing until hiccups stop.
so aparently the telemarketers are suing the government over the do not call list. of course this is interesting, but its not interesting enough for me to write more then 2 lines about it.
i dono what else. i got my handy little package from zimmer, i'm flying out sunday afternoon, flying back monday evening. should be exciting. damnit, i just realized i forgot to pickup my dry cleaning... oops, must do that tomorrow, it was only ready as of 5pm, so not a huge loss...
uhh, i need to think of what i want for lunch tomorrow, this is of course advance planning to promote conversation:
1. chipotle
2. steak i have in fridge
3. schlotzky's, i think i have a coupon
4. make something from store
5. peanut butter (and jelly for those that don't hate it)
well, so i went to sleep early, and you know what. it means i got up at 8:30. rather amazing, i know, but hey, i can find intriguing shows on speed about canadians restoring old corvettes.
so most of you have heard, i have an interview at zimmer, in warsaw indiana on monday. they first offered me tomorrow, but that was a bit soon, so monday seems better. to discuss the how do i get there thing, i'm flying. suposedly sometime today my fedex package will arrive. very exciting.
hrm, not much else. walter doesn't seem to be responding to the update somewhat regular thing.
i have to go power tool shopping today. need to get some sort of grinder thingy for the cleaning of the walls in jen's basement. should be fun, though i'm still a bit tired, so i'll probably do that more of this afternoon, you know, when i'm awake.
so i guess i need a quiz.
job interview.
1. yay
2. wahoo
3. ooh, indiana
4. meep
yeah i was supposed to do an entry last night, but i forgot. i also forgot to read all the comics over the weekend, so i must catchup. i wonder if this is a common thing?
so hrm. i'm very annoyed at all the local grocery stores. when trying to find miso, to attempt make a version of udon, two grocery stores, (i can't imagine the 3rd one would actually have it) and no luck. very frustrating overall.
i just noticed walter hasn't updated either. this is good news for us slackers.
so hrm, the weekend just wasn't very interesting. mostly because after moving washer and dryers, there wasn't much i was interested in doing on sunday besides hanging out. how anyone can move washers for a living is beyond me. its not like i'm old, and its just a giant pain in the ass.
so my toothpaste is green. (well sorta metallic green) anyway, i got all confused at how it can immediately form white bubbles when mixed with water. of course i tried to do some searching for this, but didn't find much, except things that supported my original logic, thin film interaction, the light hitting the super thing bubbles refracts so much it ends up being white anyway. similar logic would of course apply to the blue dishsoap that forms white bubbles, but you know, i was looking for a very deep and moving explanation. something involving karma maybe.
uhh, so what else, not really much to discuss, and i should get this posted quickly.
for entertainment value from the onion: remotes
right, so a quiz of sorts:
color you would like your bubbles to be:
1. green, like the toothpaste
2. whatever shade off offwhite your teeth are
3. red, it'd be like halloween
4. yellow, to be the opposite of green. why would anyone have green toothpaste
5. clear. it'd be more fun to find them.
so aprently jen was wandering around dairy mart (i think she needs a new job so she doesn't need to amuse herself doing such things) and found banana quick. technically of course its banana nesquik. and actually its Buncha Banana reduced fat Milk. its very odd, counter to all logic like orange things, it doesn't smell like much, but tastes like well, bananas. i think its actually better then it used to be. of course i only remember it from when i was like 8, and would get it at fishkill hot bagels, probably shortly after the shoprite opened in that plaza. ahh, the dutchess mall, that was cool. anyway, enough reminiscing.
my tv is officially fixed! who knew sticking some random magnets and futzing until the color blurb was gone is all one needs to do? and on top of that, it had factory magnets, so its not even much of a big difference. anyway. now jeopardy doesn't have an odd pink spot in its corner.
i have an appointment to get the car's a/c looked at tomorrow, but it seems the compressor is not going on. this isn't very good, or maybe it is, because it could be fully charged and just some stupid electrical fault. also i had a flat tire, so got that pumped up, and need to go yell at firestone and get it fixed. fortunately i have the drive over bed of nails policy. (it was like $25... i think a good investment)
uhh, i know there was other stuff, but well i forgot. and i don't think i'm going to be in the middle of the blogathon on saturday. i know this could be sad, but get over it.
favourite thing to break tires:
1. femurs
2. tentus impregnated nails
3. sewer rat
4. ischia (look it up, i think its funny in a sense, (and its damn hard to find its definition without wading through italian), and it sounds funny too!)
5. banana quick bottles
6. cans of cream of mushroom soup
yeah i know i didn't update yesterday. i just sorta fell asleep. shoot me. it happens. anyway, i meant to update today, but sometimes i get sidetracked, doing exciting things like the dishes. i realize some of you may not think this is exciting, but it is nice to be able to see the bottom of the sink, so i need to do this every day or two.
what else... i need to figure out what i'm doing this weekend. seems like i don't have definite plans. though i don't quite expect to drive to ny, in the event any of you were thinking that. of course if you'd like to come here, feel free.
i got some cookies at tresanti yesterday. they're weird. i think its because they're chocolate coated, but have a habit of melting. so you end up eating chocolate goo. not very appetizing, by most standards.
uhh, what else. i dono, i realize i had posted the lamest entry ever, but at least i'm making up for it by babbling a very large amount now. do i even everything out? i'll even try and keep the days back on track, which should make everyone happy. including walter, who aparently got very bored last night and installed mt. the least i could do was put up a link for him. very exciting stuff. we'll see when he copies the comic section and the photo album though. i don't think his posting of his calendar is worth copying. especially since mine generally just says 'sleep, eat, find a job'
best monitor top decoration:
1. resume paper, because you know, its suposedly useful
2. the intel bunny guy, i seem to have lost
3. empty fiji bottles
4. bread to keep warm
5. tv remote
6. kimchee
Honey baked ham is about a minute away from my apartment. I got lunch there, made meatloaf for dinner, and basically sat around the rest of the day. It was highly productive as you can see. Honey Baked hame has things besides ham, like turkey and bacon and beef, but that seems scary, as we know smoke beef is a slim jim.
Here's today's quiz:
Best topping for meat loaf:
1. Ketchup
2. Catsup
3. Bacon Grease
4. Pureed Spam
5. Milk Gravy from pork brains in milk gravy
6. Onion powder
7. Onion flakes
8. Jack Daniel's grilling sauce
9. Phlegm
10. various other things that are fun to spell
Yes, i should have a real update, but i'm tired. this weekend's activity of helping with the siding took way longer then expected. i'm also slightly sunburnt, which isn't fun, but i'll get over it.
umm, did everyone read their comics for the weekend? i forgot too, so i'm checking to make sure everyone did.
for an idea of the business of this weekend, (and why i'm really just going to go to bed now) i had the same away message up for last night's dinner as today's, and it even promoted responses. the reason damon's is so sketchy, is because it sucked last time, but we got a 2 free appetizer things to makeup for it, and its open late (again siding taking a while, its hard to find somewhere to go past 10pm..) so it was worth a try. my food was pretty good (except for the pint glasses are meant for beer, not to be filled with 4oz water and 12 oz ice) but everyone else's wasn't. sad, really.
anyway, i'm off to sleep. need to see what exciting job leads monday has for me!
the picnic was fun btw, the 2 buck chuck, which cost $2.99 actually, and would cost $3.89 if we bought it in OH, tasted like wine. it was exciting. i'll discuss more about the picnic later. suffice it to say, i make a good rice pudding, but the credit goes to kmart being open 24 hours so i can shop at 11:30 and the best recipe cookbook. (no, that's "best recipe cookbook", not the best and in better then others, its just the name)
eh crap. i can't figure out a poll. oh well.
sunburn suggestions:
1. stop sweating, it makes it worse
2. aloe, which conviently is like $.39 a gallon at sams (ok like $6, but still)
3. lidocaine, because you know, its like pain reducing
4. bucket of ice
5. hitting head with bucket
6. bucket of lice
as some of you know, with some prodding from chl i setup a comics fetching page. if you look i bet you can find it. if there's other comics you'd like, feel free to suggest them, and i'll probably add them if i can. sorry it doesn't match the theme, but i'd need to hack the software more, which i'm not entirely in the mood to do, so i'll deal with it later. also i think since most of the comics were designed to go on a white background, it probably looks better anyway. it will update at 6:15 each morning....i'm not sure yet how long i'll keep the comics, depends on how big the files get. download any you want to keep.
i was watching another random show on hgtv, i think living in a concrete slab house would be a cool idea. aparently its cheap too.
have vague plans to go to the orchestra concert at blossom, which is much like SPAC for those of you in the know. i'll need to work on picnic stuff.
i think there was some other things i meant to mention, but i seem to have forgotten them. and i was all set to get a nice long entry, you know, to makeup for not saying much over the weekend. such is life.
its almost 3. very tempting to stay up to watch to tell the truth again, of course if i do that, then its really more like 4:40, which is kinda damn late. (its not early yet, the sun starts rising after 5).
favorite comic currently on page:
1. dilbert
2. close to home
3. fbofw (i still maintain as that is not funny, its not a comic, but its aparently a cult following, so whatever)
4. maramaduke
5. ____________ insert comic name here
so you know, if either you own a tivo, or stay up until 6:30, there's cool black and white game shows on game show network. to tell the truth is on at 4.. rather entertaining.
what else. why do i need 3 quarts of water to cook fresh ravioli when they just float at the top from the beginning? i understand frozen ones which are at the bottom of the pot, but you know, its not like the water circulates all that much. i think its a scam. especially on my underpowered stove which takes forever to heatup.
hrm, what else. i should put some more water in the fridge. i think i'm running low.
the ny trip isn't anymore set then it was yesterday, but as its planned for more then 4 weeks from now, i'm not in the hugest of hurries.
nothing else really interesting going on. i did get a hammer yesterday as well. its sorta cool, but nothing too great. especially as i stepped on it and cut myself. we're not the best of friends, i think i'll hit something with it.
favourite yellow color:
1. canary
2. goldenrod
3. gold
4. hrm, ran out of suggestions, i think this is a sign.
Have I mentioned lately its extremely frustrating that there's hundreds of jobs available that required something like 3-5 years of work experience? have I mentioned lately that while everyone says 'eh, they just say that' its impossible to apply for a job when it asks you:
Do you have at least 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, product development and process development?
with radio buttons for Yes and No.
Argh! I'm going to sleep. being frustrated is a great way to end then day. I think i'll make some iced tea before..
in other news. i have a very cool self changing utility knife now.
I can't remeber what i was going to poll over. oh well.
best poll topics:
1. food
2. stuff i bought
3. job stuff (or serious lack thereof)
4. stuff i haven't bought
oh, on other news, my 2nd cousins or whatever are having their 50th wedding anniversary party on august 23rd, jen and i were pondering going since we were invited, and can fly to lga pretty cheaply. ideas?
i didn't have anymore bologna. i ran out of bread, except for hot dog buns, so i made hot dogs. it was productive! i'm not sure in what respect, but you know.
i should get some bread at some point. maybe i'll go to tresanti and collect italian stuff tomorrow.
hrm, what else, want to buy a delorean, with a 3 rotor engine and a porsche transmission? you know, because any of those 3 cars are easy to fix, its good to combine them all
hrm, so i got through the c's, nothing interesting there. we'll combat the d's tomorrow...
so i said i wouldn't stay up late.. its almost two i should get to bed.
excuse for staying up:
1. running through the c's
2. watching that colin quinn show thing on comedy central
3. pondering getting a tivo to avoid problem 2
4. waiting for something interesting to happen
5. thinking jen should try eating at carl's jr or hardees.
so jen got me this intriguing ohio thing, (if i get bored i may actually go there, since it seems to be about an hour away..) namely trail bologna. i think its called trail, because well, there's a town in OH called trail. anyway, its very similar to hebrew national beef salami. anyway, it keeps falling on the floor when i open the fridge, thus forcing me to eat it quickly so as to limit the times i need to pick it up. (its wrapped! i'm not eating food off the floor)
anyway, so short of the bologna discussion, not much else happening. i need to call some friend of a friend of jen's dad, see how that works out for job finding, i'm thinking it could be cool, but highly unlikely.
so i was watching dilbert, his boss just bought hot dogs for the company picnic from some guy on the street with hot dogs in his trenchcoat. it was amusing.
yeah, so not much else. taco bell is advertising something with 'crunchy red strips' i somehow sadly think this is actually supposed to be appetizing. and the lack of smashed potatoes is sad, but at least their gravy isn't nasty. besides, i need to make some smashed potatoes tomorrow anyway, i picked up some good looking new potatoes on friday... i need to get good at doing things with them before they sprout.
smashed potato ingredients:
1. lard
2 chives
3. garlic
4. mustard
5. the period i missed on choice 2
6. trail bologna
7. head cheese
if someone hurries up, they'll get the 431st comment. very exciting.
so i decided that eating tuna at 3:30 wasn't the best idea, tonight's 1am snack was bananas and milk. i think my stomach liked it better, but you never know for a few hours if you're all clear.
so hrm, what else.
i need to clean the living room, i finished all the B's in the huge list 'o' companies to check for jobs, but didn't find any jobs to apply for today. sad... maybe the c's will have better luck.
why boston market is gross:
1. because its mcdonalds in disguise
2. they serve nestea tea
3. gross dried turkey
4. mediocre service
5. expensive
6. just sick of it
Wolfgang Puck is busy making Pike. I dono, its making me hungry, even though i just ate a tuna sandwich, which seems to have slightly upset my stomach. how confusing.
so i applied to 4 jobs, well 3, and a random 'if you're interested in any job, apply here' i wonder if that will go anywhere... i gave up, since i'm tired. can't apply to too many jobs in one day, or my typing fingers (you know, there's only 2 really) will get too tired.
i know there was other stuff i was going to discuss.... boston market's turkey isn't especially good. i'm not really surprised by this, but ohh well. somehow i remembered it being better, but i haven't had it in a long time. my fault for trusting mcdonald's for something besides extra beefy french fries.
i can't think of much more exciting to mention. moving freezers from basements isn't fun. in the event you were wondering.
favorite mcdonalds restaurant.
1. mcdonald's
2. macdonald's (support the british)
3. chipotle
4. donatos
5. pret a manger (must get to NY again to try them, I can't remember if I've ever eaten at one)
6. aroma cafe (no clue what this is...and google isn't helping)
7. boston market
well, so aparently either everyone's not around, or i'm just becoming more boring. i'm not sure which is a better thing.
so i went to eddie bauer, which is closing, and now have an amusing espresso thermometer. which i guess has other uses. in any event, its excitingly analog and 2". and was $5 in its original box.
hrm, what else... i'm trying a new job search system, instead of my usual look through a pile of websites to see if the've posted any jobs, i found (i'm not sure why i didn't do this earlier) a webpage update search thing, so i'll use that to search. i think this could be positive, as i can look at more sites in any given day.
*y* i'm tired, i'm not sure why i stayed up this late, except that i did last night, so its kinda becoming a pattern, which of course makes it easier.
there is nothing on DIY channel now. i really don't care about ken griffy sr.'s grandchildren's room... really, i don't. i'd rather watch paint dry, it'd be DIY too.
hrm.. so I got more responses when I didn't have quiz. what to do?
1. create more interesting quizzes
2. poll on flooring colors
3. go to sleep, quit worrying
4. shop for fuzzy logic rice cookers
5. stop watching DIY, its even more boring now.
So I promised I'd update later, i guess i sorta failed on that front, but you know, i haven't gone to bed, so technically its the same day, so i'm still updating. but i'm not sure if that logic works well. i get the distinct feeling its not.
so i had dinner at jen's. we had the pasta that she imported from madison. it was actually much better then the stuff from the market here, mostly because it had much more flavor. it wasn't as fresh, but the cleveland stuff tends to just be colored. oh well.
so we saw legally blonde 2, it was pretty good. entertaing at least. and we got dippin' dots from the vending machine. that was odd. it opens a cooler then vacuums the package out of it. oh, and ice cream at a movie is odd to. doubl]y odd.
clearly yesterday's quiz was less then exciting.
i applied for a job in austin. if i get it, i have to go and buy a new mac. living in the home of dell and all. of course if i get it is about as likely as anything else, since i have no statistical anything on my likelyhood of getting any job.
what else, i bought tickets for going to CA the first week of august. that should be fun. maybe i'll have the luck of it actually getting in the way of job stuff. that'd be a nice diversion.
not much else.
activity for tomorrow:
1. cleaning living room
2. sleeping in
3. spending 3 hours making lunch
4. seeing how much fiji i can drink, since i have a good supply
Well, so I'm quite tired, long trip, stupid stupid traffic in chicago, for no good reason except construction and general crowds coming back in various directions from vacation i assume.
did manage to pickup some fiji in chicago, as well as a famous bottle of charles shaw wine (aka 2 buck chuck, though its $3 in IL)
what else, tons of stuff, was a good weekend definetly, i'm off to sleep. need to have effort for the job search, i'll update more tomorrow afternoon.
most irritating part of traffic:
1. avoidance of using a/c due to worries of car overheating
2. random buicks swerving to see what's ahead, when nothing is
3. slo motion view of crappy parts of chicago
4. radar signs, that can't register below 5 mph, so don't actually show speed, except every so often will say 5, right next to a speed limit 45 sign
5. when it was over
6. that it was still a tollway, so cost like $5 to drive through all the traffic.
nothing happened today, i talked to the headhunter, he said he made some phonecalls, but clearly didn't get anywhere, so i'll wait to hear from him.
not much else, i need to pack, i always forget to do that, i wonder what i'll be missing this time.
yay for all the comments, always a good thing. i guess banana quick wasn't well loved or hated, since no one seems to know about it.
so we're heading out tomorrow morning or so, that gives a nice benefit of avoiding traffic in chicago, always a positive thing.
i may or may not update over the weekend, we'll see how that goes and such.
my back itches.
i think its a weekend, so i don't need a quiz. any complaints can be in the form of a quiz.
so ironically, on the trip to sams after my meeting i got an iced tea maker. unfortunately its a bit manual, and needs like 3 trays of ice. i had about 1 1/2, so i have warm tea, but its sorta good.
anyway, so the headhunter seemed intrigued, clearly by the several grand he'd make finding me a position. he's going to call the cleveland clinic tomorrow, as well as check with someone in mansfield (which isn't great, as its close to mid-ohio racetrack, but in the middle of not very much).
so i'll check with him in the afternoon and find out, seems promising though.
not much else happening. the usual monday night monster garage, monster house, american choppers. all very exciting stuff
the iced tea maker also can make iced coffee, so i'll try that after i finish the pitcher of tea...
favourite iced drink:
1. coffee
2. tea
3. frap
4. squid
5. job
6. cocoa
7. strawberry
8. remember bannana quick? was i the only one who liked it?
