not much exciting

i have hiccoughs. this is annoying, i really should do something about that.

nothing else is very exciting. i'm trying to think of interesting things.

i had dinner at pf changs. where i tried to order mu shu chicken. of course this wasn't easy. the waitress said 'we don't reccomend that'. aparently its mostly cabbage. why a chain restaurant trains its staff to not suggest a menu item, makes very very little sense.

i'm tired, i'm not sure why, i didn't do much this weekend, i think i slept too much.

i need to watch more dilbert, its always sorta random when i see it on tv.

so yeah, i should write more, but whatever.

chances jen will forget her leftovers from dinner for lunch tomorrow:
1. very good
2. poor, she probably read this
3. i can't ever recall her remembering
4. why aren't fridges see through, to remind you of such things
5. irrelevant, must prepare for chat with headhunter at 5:30.

stupid fuses

well, so the apartment actually has fuses, i knew this originally, but it wasn't really worth noting until i somehow burnt out the one that the a/c was on... of course i realized this just after i got back from kmart.. grr, anyway a trip to walmart in the rain fixed the problem, and as they came in a 3 pack, i have extras.

on other news, i talked to a headhunter who i found that in theory does entry level stuff (starting at $40k) i have a meeting at 5:30. i even on the fly came up with the excuse that while i'm free whenever for a meeting, i don't like rush hour traffic, so would prefer not in the morning. i was impressed with myself.

hrm, what else, another market day tomorrow. chicken terrayaki is on the schedule, since now i've managed to figure out how to make rice a bit more correctly. handy jasmine rice only needs 10 minutes to cook, and its so yummy.

so i was watching iron chef. the ingredient is milk. this seems to have confused them greatly. the iron chef was making cheese with it, they kept saying 'its thickening' clearly curdling isn't thickening.. but anyway. they also got all confused when they had an actual slab of bacon.

i should point out my antenna has stayed on my phone. very exciting. i hope i didn't jinx it.

that's about it.

bubble tea in madison again?
1. yay
2. boo
3. what's bubble tea
4. only small bubbles
5. its still not at starbucks, i'm waiting to go there

speaking of starbucks, i think i need a frap tomorrow. must remember to do that.

sushi coasters

so i forgot to bring the sushi leftovers from last night. i had to stop ayt schlotzsky's for lunch. it was actually pretty good, but aparently i like it more then other people, so we'll see.

so i was reading the times, and noticed that aparently, those square things from olive garden (and fridays) that blink when you're ready to be served, are actually coasters who knew? this is very odd, that both i didn't know, and that it wasn't obvious enough to know. they're even water resistant. and cost $80, which is just stupidly expensive, but you know they're milking it for all its worth.

Hrm, what else. nothing new on the job front, hopefully i'll make some progress today, there hasn't been much to apply to, which is a bit sad, but i can't really do much about it. otherwise i'll just umm, keep swimming? i guess i need to follow in the which nemo character are you thing.

schlotzsky's iced tea tastes wrong, i keep forgetting this.

why more restaurants don't sell fiji:
1. they're not as cool as sheetz
2. people actually think dasani tastes good
3. a real company doesn't distribute it
4. i'm the only person who thinks fiji goes well with a garbage plate

oh sleepy time

well, so i made more pizza, i need to find out what idiot decided that the kitchen didn't need a vent of any sort, i'll have to get an exhaust window fan, since this whole everytime i use the oven the smoke alarm goes off thing is getting annoying.

i got around to looking at tickets for CA, not very exciting. i wonder if my grandmother wants to take a train from albany to here, its only $56, but leaves at 6pm and gets in at 3:31am (assuming of course its on time, hahaha amtrak on time...)

what else, nothing much, i got the oil changed. they thought it was a cool car. they don't have auto filling 20/50, so they actually had to use bottles of it. weird.

umm, not much else to report really. i got a phonecall back from the person in northridge CA, so i emailed her my actual resume to her yahoo account. perhaps that will yield something.

i think i'm off to sleep. nothing else to stay up for from what i can tell, tuesdays are just boring like that.

since my newest lead is in souther CA:
1. its a job possibility, who cares
2. hahahaha i have to live in the same area as tooooooom
3. mmm, smog
4. mm, 1 bedroom apartments for $1500
5. eh, its just a lead, why get all excited?

potter's done

though i think anyone who has talked to me knows that. so $18 for 3 days of entertainment, not a bad idea.

i didn't really do much today, so i can't say much. a bit annoying, but you know, everyday can't be exciting.

the patent thing seems like a good idea, but reading the exam questions gives me a headache. i'm not sure i want to get into a subject which does that. more pondering tomorrow i guess. the application deadline is july 7th.. must hurry up and decide, and to cap it off, i think this is the last paper examination, they seem to be hinting at that.

uhh what else, i can't think of much.

there's a trader joe's relatively close to 90 in chicago, so i can get more water, i'm running low.

best chinese food suggestion:
1. not hack chicken so you need to eat around bones
2. remember to include chop sticks
3. more soy sauce
4. fusion cuisine: more chinese tacos
5. eh, just go to sleep, there's no chinese breakfast anyway

oil change?

I have a coupon for an oil change, maybe i'll get that done tomorrow. this is exciting stuff, well ok not really, but at least they claim they vacuum the car. ooh, that's positive. huge job too, like uhh cleaning out a house, that;s about 10' square.

what else, i'm pondering figuring out a ladder with independent adjustable feet, much like a tripod. this only relates to nothing, especially since i would think someone has already done this, but if they haven't, patent logic says that when first thought of and documented, gets the patent, so i'm documenting.

on the subject of ladders, i helped jen's dad a bit over the weekend, yay for being productive, somehow i feel like it was a better weekend then if i read the entire time, because i have something to show for it. and i got food too. also produced thoughts of ladders.

on the subject of potter, i'm a bit under 500 pages in now, i'll continue reading more tonight, very exciting i know.

i think i need to febreeze my chair, it has an odd smell to it.

that's about it from the excitement dept now.

all the patent discussion brought up my question about taking the patent bar, i need to register by july 15th or something. should i take it?
1. yes
2. no
3. maybe
4. wait until i get a job
5. what's the patent bar?
6. don't you need to have a law degree to do that?

Potter mania

well, nothing too exciting really, aparently i had an entry called potter + minis, i'll have to figure out what that was...

so on a suggestion from jen, i called kmart, to see if they had the books, they said yes, they had them, and would be at the customer service counter at midnight. i said yay, and then we left and got there at 11:50... unfortunately all i got was milk, since aparently they only had 30 of them, and the line had already exceeded that.

the backup plan was in force. at 12:09 (had to put the milk away...) i drove to fairlawn, which is a northwest suburb of akron. i got to barnes and noble at 12:35 or so, (it said 19 miles online...) and checked in at the desk, though people were leaving, so i found a parking spot in front. i checked in and got number 193, which was of people who hadn't pre-ordered. there was aparently a pile of yellow, orange and pink ones which had ordered. oh well. i actually waited around (people watched) mostly until they announced white was ok, (ignoring the numbers aparently) and so i stood in line at the music section (they had decided to sell there just when they finished the pre-orders) got my book at 1:15. very exciting. as i was standing in line trying to find out which end was up, i commented to the guy next to me good they had enough books, since there were 200 white people. he looked at me and said 'white people' (i guess he didn't know about the colored paper thing?) anyway, i looked around the store, and actually of the probably few hundred people left, everyone was white. odd.

anyway, back to privet drive. there's a drought going on. i love how the books are americanized, but still have words like 'hosespout' and 'trainers' in them. its like teaching 10 year olds british english...but not too much.

yeah i'm late

well i was going to update last night, but at the time, it seemed better to just go to sleep at 10:30. i think it was a good idea, i got up before 9 again! this is big news.

rusty walls could be fun... though not the same as lead... its a bit less exciting.

the logic behind frozen veggies is they take too much planning, i need to microwave and blah blah blah, and they never seem to come out right. maybe i'll try some later, (as today's market day i'll get something fresh... artichokes? need to use the new kettles for something like butter anyway....)

what else, umm my head itches, i should do something about that.

i applied to some more jobs yesterday, that was exciting, one of them was even in cleveland. they don't seem to have gotten back to me, but this is not news anyway.

i think i've run out of non-stale oreo's, as i didn't buy them in the first place, they just ended up in my bags (i think the person in front of me got them, but what was i supposed to do, save them for 3 weeks until i went back to the store, and give them to the person they have no idea who it is?) this isn't a big deal.

anyway, i have to get ready for today's activities, need to find out where i can buy potter at midnight for instance! yay.

hopefully i'll have it by the time i update tonight, so that will work out.

weekend activity:
1. reading potter
2. helping jen with house repairs
3. degaussing my tv
4. cleaning around here
5. sleeping
6. remembering to close the window, its cold in here

lefto.

i didn't feel in a right mood. hahaha. ok that was lame. anyway, so the peas do seem to be disappearing, i should hurry up and make beer out of them. i can't even fathom what that would taste like...that's just odd. i do wonder if high falls would like it (they make genesee...)

so in the random movie i watched last night, i forgot two good quotes:
I'm thinking of commiting suicide, but I'd probably go to hell, and that'd be an upgrade.

'Business or Pleasure?'
'Business'
'Monkey or Funny?'

so what else... its difficult to keep veggies in stock, and they're sketchy and overpriced from local places, so the offset is cans sometimes and fresh other times. half the time i get something like corn fresh i'll forget to eat it anyway.

ooh, tomorrow's thursday. very exciting, i have some jobs to apply to as well. not that i ever expect much from that, but hey, its a good idea.

so what else is exciting, not much really... i seasoned the cute little half pint cast iron serving kettles. now i just need to find something to do with them, but that's a later project.

my phone # finally got transferred, that's always good news. yay vonage. though i still question if my mail's forwarded.. i haven't heard anything yet from 116th, so its a bit odd...

favorite room paint color
1. pea green
2. potted meat
3. milk gravy (pork brains optional)
4. not spicy at all 'hot and spicy' goldfish
5. ketchup spilled on shirt
6. 10 hour on kitchen counter ziti

yippee

well, so clearly the pictures were very exciting. i told you you weren't missing much, but everyone wanted pictures, so, well you got them.

hrm, what else. the grill pan finally came today, so i made the steak that had been waiting for it. it came out well, didn't even set off any smoke alarms, very exciting stuff. i'll have to think of other things i can grill... perhaps some veggies...

what else, nothing really, a generally boring day. i watched some movie which i've fogotten with charlie sheen and angie harmon. it was pretty good as far as random comedies on random channels go. very exciting i'm sure. i don't really have much planned tomorrow, though i do need to finalize plans for the 4th, very annoying its coming up so quickly..

i think i have a headache, so i'm off to bed. its been ongoing all day, its about time i did something about it, and staying up really late doesn't seem all the exciting..

since the lettuce was exciting, there's some peas stuck in the bottom of the can (who decided to make the bottom lump the right size for peas to get stuck in).

suggestions for the peas:
1. make gumdrop sculptures
2. use as lettuce substitute
3. refine into super poten pea juice
4. hope they regenerate into a full can again.

Mitch gets Job, I get goldfish

Yeah, so it seems mitch is basically going to get a job offer from cibola systems, (I'm feeling lazy, so i'm not linking it) they install video conference room type things...in orange county (santa ana) CA.

i on the other hand, went shopping, and got mini goldfish. they don't taste much different, but per pound are cheaper then normal size or the colored ones.

hrm, what else, nothing really, the pictures of the apartment i promised are up, that's good news. and yeah there isn't much else (at least on my scope) besides watching the waves... advanced scopology requires a bit more knowledge of waves and such, i likened an oscilloscope to an EE's calculator...

its not actually a nifty roast pan, its a cast iron grill pan, did i say it was a roast pan? oops.. anyway, not here yet... though i did get cool bathroom stuff from helen... now i have a firetruck soap dispenser and matching garbage basket.

its hot in cleveland, but not horribly. its also humid. stupid lake. i think it was in the 70's today, but my apartment seems especially warm prone, and i like it cool, so a/c is in use a bunch.

quiz today:
favourite picture of apartment (or car i guess)
any questions about them?

yay for 6 comments...

another week

well, so i don't have any plans for monday, except maybe getting some more gum. i ran out of carefree coolers.. this is sad, but not very important.

hrm, what else, i had donatos pizza, it was pretty good, (i have plenty of leftovers) but it had that oddball rochester thing of cutting cubes out of a round thing. who in their right mind thought of this?... oy..

last night i made (with ample help) london broil. it came out well, though took longer then expected because the oven aparently lost heat quickly, even though it was at the right temperature, i guess i need to wait until my cast iron pan gets here.. stupid slow pan.

what else... i finally got a fan for my room. this is exciting.

the apartment's pretty well clean, so if i don't keep forgetting to get the camera out of the car, i'll take some pictures tomorrow. (need daylight or they'll look horrible)

rationale for continual bugging about apartment pictures:
1. wonder where oscilloscope is
2. want to see new nemo jen got me
3. jealous of coffee table
4. boredem
5. intrigued by the box of stuff that plugs into stuff

hiccup

aparently i already had an entry called hiccough. how sad. in any event, i seem to have a mild case of them.

hrm, what else. so we made dinner:
appetizer:
orale (place at the market) torilla chips
salsa
guac (one of the avodacos was rotten, so we didn't make as much as expected, oh well, no leftovers)

tequila lime chicken
saffron rice
red beans

it went pretty well. i even managed to use 3 burners at once, this was very exciting...

what else, i didn't do much else. i cleaned off the coffee table. it seems to need a more thorough cleaning, i'm not really in the mood for it. it can have some stains.

i know there was some other stuff i wanted to say, but clearly i've forgotten. oh well.

there's some skiing on tv. i feel like i missed out this season... maybe i should get some tickets to the southern hemisphere... or just plan better for next year. blah. (and no, i don't think that was what i was going to say, but you never know what's swimming in my head)

googly eye jet powered cyberfish

everyone's favourite decoration. so hrm, i went and got chocolate milk today. which was also with some dryer sheets, as i realized that when i had put in my laundry, i had none. i'm not even sure where they went, since i know i bought some recently... i guess they dissapeared before the move.

hrm, so enough about the fish.

what else... i went to the hotel clearance. it was horrible. all the furniture looked like, well old hotel stuff. including late 80's tv's! for $50... go figure.

i got an american airlines thing, it says i've been an aadvantage member since july 1994. i think that's scary. its also a bit odd that i've only managed to get 23,959 miles since then. clearly i don't fly enough....

what else.. i dono, i can't think of anything. i made a pizza, it came out well, except it was closer to rather thick then i expected. i also had to use a piece of cardboard, since i don't have a peel. i'll have to pick one up when i'm at a suitable italian restaurant supply place, or just make one.

i think that's about it for me.

there weren't any mini bar things. i think this hotel didn't have minibars, since there weren't any fridges for sale. you could however get toilets. since you know, they're in demand. (i wonder if you can even install them, since they're bound to be before the water restrictions went into effect..)

suggestions for dinner tomorrow:
1. lettuce
2. more pizza
3. mcdonalds
4. googly eyed jet powered cyberfish
5. tuna caserole

right o.

well, so i never really updated yesterday, ohh well. went to sushi rock with jen and val. it was exciting, i even have leftovers. i dono when i'll eat them, as i also went the italian market (not to get lettuce) so now i have some dough and cheese and such (real garlic too! amazing, i know) to make into a pizza, as well as a steak.

suposedly there's a super duper sale of the contents of a ramada down the road tomorrow starting at 10. i dono if i'm going to go, not like i can think of anything i need, (since i'm not very into a motel decorations)

what else... so i got the exhaust fixed, which required the replacement of the Cat, which had split and replacing an exhaust stud. cost all of $150, which isn't expensive but annoying i had to pay a bit more.

also fixed the rear bumper, it had come undone at the bottom, so i picked up some nylon bolts and nuts at home despot, and now that's happier. i think it must have gotten knocked off by the deer... that's the only thing that makes sense.

what else, nothing too exciting really, i'm tired, so i think i'll go to sleep early.

stuff to pickup at ramada sale:
1. hotel art
2. micro shampoos
3. gideon bibles
4. lettuce
5. towels?

too many wires

so, with some more cleaning done with the help of jen, i've overflowed the wires box... i think i actually overflowed 2..

i hung up curtains in the bedroom, but need some more stuff to hang up the bamboo shade thing, since it sags too badly at the moment.

i stood in line at kmart, to buy the the curtain rod things, and managed to get the fantastik i was also holding to partially spill on myself. i'm sometimes amazed at my talents. but at least i was orange smelling and clean.

so hrm, what else... pepband laura is getting a new car: a 2001 honda civic EX -- dark green :-D she seems very psyched over it. dark green's a good color too.

i was in west virginia because i hadn't been there, and it was on the way back from pgh, not exactly any other good reason. and yeah, though technically, i'm missing 2 teeth, as the top wisdoms never came in, so i only have 30...

i managed to program the cable box remote to control the receiver. very exciting, since the receiver's remote couldn't change volume...

i don't think the second episode of monster house was as cool as the first one. we'll have to see how next week pans out.

you can add phone numbers to aim... its sorta cool, and makes texting easier, except of course you can't (i hope they change this) ad names, so you need to remember which number is who, which will get very confusing, very fast.

all of the stuff fit just fine in jen's car with the back seats down. i think actually it would have fit in the 7, except we expected to get some garbage cans, which probably wouldn't have fit. amazing how everything being flat helps with packing.

i need to go look at flights for august's trip to CA, so i'll go do that now.

what to do with extra lettuce:
1. attemp to make lettuce shreads grow
2. fill a pillow
3. compst
4. milkshake
5. mix with cheese, everything's better with cheese
6. mix with chocolate, "
7. cheese and chocolate!

Pgh + WVA

Well, so we went to pittsburgh, didn't have any pittsburgh steaks, however, we did stop by ikea.

i've now actually got a kitchen table and some chairs. very exciting. along with a few other random things, and some curtains and a bamboo screen thing, both of which i need to hang up tomorrow.

hrm, what else, its nice i've found dlibert is on comedy central around now. good, as i've seen like one episode of it.

what else, so we stopped by west virginia on the way back. it rained a lot, but at last count, that means i've been to 26 states in say the last 15 years. (I'm avoiding counting GA and the carolinas, since I can't remember driving through them when I was probably like 8). not exactly amazing, but not horrible either. grocery stores in northern west virginia are scary. and there's a cool power plant on the ohio side, that you drive under. a 4 lane highway... odd.

best perk of west virginia
1. splendidly ugly steel mills in the middle of town
2. no front license plate
3. wild wonderful slogan
4. they didn't ceceed
5. avoid 1.85 in tolls to drive through PA the whole way.

black and blue steak

yeah, i noticed pgh steaks were called black and blue. that also seemed scary. i dono, something about rare cow, it just doesn't taste right.

what else, so i found out my grandmother got a pacemaker last weekend, i guess i had been too busy to be reachable by phone, so i didn't find out until now. she seems to be doing ok from what i hear. of course mommie didn't find out what brand and any more specifics, but oh well, BME clearly isn't as interesting to her as necessary, and its not like I've applied to 2 of the 3 companies that make them...

i was eating olives (i dono, i had a craving, so i bought them) and then proceeded to dump the jar on the floor and my shoe. no comments about olive smelling shoes, though i think as the liquid's just salted water, it won't make much of a big deal.

i finally got around to installing my new speaker wire. as it happens, the 50' roll only did one speaker, and the 30' one barely did the second. great. oh well, surround sound is much better then stereo, and i hooked up the oscilloscope for added benefit.

i saw finding nemo at the dlp theater. now i've found out i need to get a dlp tv. handy, since i hadn't quite decided yet. i also of course need a job, but i filled out this like 10 page skills survey thing for boston scientific, i dono why it was delayed when i applied like 3 days ago, but whatever. hopefully that's a positive step.

name for oscilloscope:
1. blue
2. lines
3. what's an oscilloscope
4. who cares, it has vernier knobs
5. what's a vernier
6. lame poll
7. i get to go to the market, any suggestions for dinner?

do the boxes ever end?

somehow i think i'm drawing this out more then necessary, but ugh. too many boxes and not enough places for stuff to go. i guess this is also the effect of so much stuff and not packing perfectly.

aparently a pittsburgh style steak is charred on the outside (after being marinated) and pretty much rare on the inside. yech. damn steelworkers.

mitch called. his car should be fixed tomorrow, but they're not sure if anything else is broken. but it looks like a good weekend trip is shaping up, and its a bit more planned, which is always a benefit.

mcdonalds never said their fries were beef free either. they just said natural flavouring. (not that i think it was nice of them to do it, but they had the right...)

not much else exciting. i finally got a lamp. for all of $8.50 at target, its sorta nice and i can turn it on when i walk in, so i'm not wandering around in the dark. ironic it needed a $2.50 bulb though.

ice cream cereal:
1. edible
2. retro
3. it exists
4. can i have some
5. my arm itches
6. finally edible since i unpacked spoons.

holy comments!

i'm a bit sad we didn't quite make it up to 10. but you know, i think that's pushing it, especially since 9's the highest ever, (at least since i started keeping track, which is about now).

so what else, i went and saw finding nemo, but didn't see it in the dlp theatre, due to a small messup thinking all the theatres had it, except once we found out it wasn't, it was sorta too late. good movie in any case, i'll probably see it again this week to check out dlp.

hrm, what else, i got a random note from amica, aparently the totalled buick cost $5747, but that'd be with tax, so its probably more like $5400. i don't know why this would be relevant to anyone, but i figured why not mention it.

i went grocery shopping (after getting another shelf, when i found out the ones i had already gotten were on sale, nice way to save money that i didn't expect to save) and noticed there's a new sobe. grape grog. of course i'm highly suspicious, because i recall the sketchy sounding sobe eros. i haven't tried it yet, its sitting in the fridge chilling. along with some random water from eastern europe that was $.89. not however with the milk, which i somehow lost, so i'll have to get some more before i can have my cereal. very sad indeed.

uhh, what else, oh tons of the food i eat is novelty, but that's not a bad thing. how on earth did we get pittsburgh steak? that's the wrong side of the state. bridges, hot dogs at the 'O', ketchup, but steak? whatever... white castle claims on their website its 100%. they don't specify the definition of beef though.

by next weekend i assume you mean 13-15? not in a few days... (since i already mentioned in a few days going to pgh) 13-15 is currently not busy, but it is father's day, so jen may be doing stuff on sunday, i'll have to check.

next new sobe flavour:
1. red tea
2. fuerte (clearly i'm not in the right location)
3. dog sweat
4. slightly less stuff on floor
5. really cheap speaker wire that i got on clearanceade

slightly belated...

well, i haven't been around because i've been moving. have i mentioned lately i have too much stuff. of course the joke is i have tons of things i don't really care about, but they're just useful. you know, like a bunch of plates that didn't cost very much, but are quite useful. however if i move, i'm certain i can easily get rid of most of the stuff.

hrm, what else. jen actually agreed to go to white castle. so after i found quite the couch for $40, (plus tax...) we went there. it was very sliderific. i was happy. i think she's still afraid of them for some reason, not like its all that difficult to see where they came from. as far as fast food goes they're just small. and have more holes.

on the subject of the couch, i had to spend another $6 on it because it had only 2 feet. i made 4 new ones with some dowel and a bit of borrowed tools. they seem to work quite well, i just hope i don't sit down on the couch once, and then have it sit down even farther. not like 2" is a big deal anyway.

hrm, what else, i finally moved out today, and also set up the computer, so i should be back to my usual online schedule.

i started watching monster house. its kinda amusing, but very much a monster garage knockoff. of course this isn't a big deal, since i like monster garage.

what else, i dono. i applied to a job in san jose. its boston scientific, nothing too exciting, we'll see how that goes.

i think jen and i will go to pittsburgh and hang out with mitch this weekend, mostly because mitch's car should be fixed, so i'll drive it down so he doesn't need to come up. mutual benefit or something.

uhh, i dono what else is happening, i think that's about it, i've got way too many boxes to unpack, and i'm not even sure what i'm doing with them, but you know, slow progress prevents giant pain in the necks.

box i should unpack next:
1. more books
2. piles of random wires
3. plates (eating out can get boring quickly)
4. posters
5. random canned goods
