well, we're making progress. of course i realize that i left my final this evening early, which is fine, except then when discussing it with mitch (after dinner with jen) i realized i just didn't answer one question. i was going to go over the test, but my brain just hurt. and my hand actually, it still sorta hurts to type. great, as i have a final tomorrow. anyway, so that's annoying.
the shifter didn't break, its got these odd bushings in it, which need replacing, when the shifter becomes all weird. it wobbles nearly an inch sideways, and up and down when in gear. for a better explanation, here's the faq on replacing it.
seems my credit card got billed for the parts today, so we'll hope they went out today, they should show up thursday or friday... hopefully.
and yes, the wiper switch does cost $300, actually $303.72 it doesn't do much special, it just twists and turns and has a variable dial thing on it. suposedly it breaks due to contacts coming loose, which can be soldered back. i figure i'll check how much it costs from a recycler, or maybe i'll have sandanchor solder it back together for me. (the problem, i dono if i explained it, is intermittant doesn't work, which is ok, but then the wipers never go back down, so you have to time turning them off to get them to the bottom of the windshield) other ones are as high as $460 if there's a rear wiper. pretty damn insane...the best part is mazdatrix doesn't seem to make a big deal about a switch that costs that much, given you know, the latest 2nd gens are worth maybe $5k in great condition... switch that's 10% of the car... sure!
uhh, dave's going salmon fishing tomorrow morning. he offered to send me some. i think it'd be cool, so we'll see, maybe i can get some not rotting fish. damn northcoast doesn't have good fish.
i'm tired, and have to meet my group to finish up the business plan tomorrow at 1.. so i think i'll go to sleep.
possible uses for salmon:
1. scaring people like helen who are afraid of it
2. salmon burgers, to save the cows
3. nouveau bagel sandwiches, sans smoking it into lox
4. air freshener, since cooking fish always stinks up the place
5. shiny pink
quick random update: so i noticed in the wall street (i wish i could call it the journal, but everyone would think urinal, anyway) kate spade's amongst those with outlet stores now. well, a smidge of searching, and i find out the only outlet is in woodbury commons. handy. well not as handy as cleveland, but still handy.
i think the burrito i had after stat gave me a stomach cramp. i expect to sleep it off.
my shifter bushing parts haven't arrived yet. i ordered them sunday, you'd think they'd uhh, be here.
i didn't do any work on the tolchinsky final. i just wasn't in the mood. i think this will be bad tomorrow.
i'm tired.
i need to present with val our change project, but we couldn't get anyone to come to class. oops, hopefully that won't be a problem.
apple released new ipods. i feel inadequate. now i just need to see if the cassette deck works in the 7. or maybe i can replace it for $300 like the wiper switch yowch.
what else, i had this odd ice cream thing, because val called and said she wanted to get ice cream. i agreed, so it was pound cake, with a pineapple slice on top, then a scoop of ice cream (i got pineapple/orange vanilla that was blue for some reason) with caramel, (maybe it was carmel, i dono...) whipped cream, a cherry and butterfinger pieces.
quite good for $2.99. if i do say so.
uhh, i think that's all i feel like talking about. i swear once i'm less busy, i'll write more. only a day or two left, depending on how you feel like counting.
i found some apartments to live in during the summer leads. this is a positive thing. i'll update as i know anything.
possible reasons for blue ice cream.
1. supporting blue jays
2. protesting canadians being in either the national league or the american league
3. protesting SARS, courtesy of blue jays
4. blue is the cheapest food colouring. (i'd think red would be...)
5. blue is popular
6. blue looks least likely to be normal (trust me, it didn't look blueberryish)
7. they felt like it. just give up
well so i was watching family guy, but yes, i did get nearly everything i needed done done.
i aparently forgot the risk analysis for the business plan, but i'll do that tomorrow after presentations. blah!
uhh, i knew there were things to discuss, but i dono what.
yeah, if anyone wonders what a dogcow is, go look it up. its well explained.
'the 7 because it currently lacks a name' no longer beeps going around right turns to tell me its low on oil. oddly, oil costs $2.50 a quart at the BP, while gatorade costs all of $2 a quart. i'm not sure if that's good or bad, you'd think gatorade would be a much larger difference cheaper as all it is is salt water.
i'm tired, so yeah, i'll deal with more work tomorrow.
damn grad school is winding down in a very busy way, but it'll be over soon. wahoo.
or two, technically, since i'm sure all of you knew 2nd gen's had dual exhausts.
in any case, the car's got new mufflers and the gaskets between the cats fixed. so it should be happy. i pick it up in an hour or so when i can get time. i'm too damn busy with homework.
on the other issue, uhh, i have a ton of homework.
so besides that, i stopped by springfest, which was horribly lame compared to dday, as it only had inflatable rides, and free food, which was nice, but was horrible. flat hamburgers, greasy salad, etc, etc.
springfest was fun, as i got ketchup all over my jeans. i have no idea, how, in using one packet, i managed to splatter my jeans in over 20 places. i guess i have a hidden talent.
i then stopped by the glass sale at the institute of art. it was a bit odd, like buying swarovsky stuff, displayed like a garage sale. in any event, i picked up two cool vasey thing. i dono what i'll do with them, or if they'll fall over with water in them. but they're pretty unique at the moment. so i'll survive.
i honour of d-day i wore a UR shirt (after i showered after springfest) oh, and i saw andy vasicek at springfest. it was exciting. like a mini mini UReunion.
anywyay, i need to get going.
new car names:
1. tubamobile nimmt fumf
2. red
3. moof
4. err
5. das car
6. 7 and 7
well I played worms with mitch, which is why i'm up so late. but you know, such things happen. i didn't however make any progress on my homework collection. oops.
upside, i finally got through to one of the alumni contacts i had been trying to get. it wasn't a productive meeting, until he noticed that the guy who he had met at a party and reffered him internally was advertising for a job somewhere (i dono what website) so he's going to ask him if he wants to talk to me. yay.
also, the random person who offered help after i finished the squished mini story on mini2 ran into some guy at alcon (in Irvine, so i could uhh, room with toooooom? ok, no... anyway at least Socal has nice weather to make up for traffic and a MINI on every corner) who actually was interested in me, so my resume's off to get forwarded to the alcon guy.
Have i mentioned how annoying it is that my job hunt suddenly starts collecting leads with 3 weeks left before graduation?
so on other news, aparently the ticket me red is really only pull me over and scare the crap out of me red. somehow i managed to drive back from blockbuster with mitch and went 38 in those annoying 25 areas in cleveland heights (yeah i know jen is the only one who knows where that is, but i bet she cares!) for several blocks, while a cop was following me. in any case, he pulled me over, and ignore that the muffler has a hole in it, that one headlight was dead and just gave me a warning, and said it was my early graduation present. go figure. and btw, ignore that it was about the same block (on the same road of course) where i got pulled over around when i moved into the apartment last summer and got off with a warning. oh, i forgot, i had the insurance card for the MINI (since i haven't gotten news ones yet, which is totally legal in OH) but the only card I have expired last may.... so i was carrying insurance proof for the wrong car that's a year old.
i'm getting addicted to random new sauces. tabasco chipotle's really good. it even makes up for the lack of chipotle flavouring if you get veggie burritos at chipotle. (the chipotle is mostly on the chicken, in the event you were wondering) lea + perrin's white worcestershire is good too.
reason i didn't get a ticket this evening:
1. cop dazzeled by my ability to avoid admitting guilt (i had no idea i was going that fast, of course i would slow down if i was being followed, but i just didn't notice, i just got the car, etc, etc...)
2. shiny red causes temporary blindness
3. he didn't know how a rotary engine worked, so he couldn't ticket it
4. out of state license, no points, but i'd fight the ticket
5. he thought mitch was cute
6. he couldn't believe anyone could fit in the backseats and was confused why they existed
7. moof?
well so i picked up the car today. its handy and nice. and red and shiny. it also has one of its two mufflers missing (which i suspected, since it was missing a tailpipe) and the exhaust has some random hole somewhere else.. fun stuff, so i'll need to get that looked into to see what's actually wrong.
i'm tired. i badly need to catchup on sleep. for no good reason i've been just busy, end of the semester crap i guess.
i keep trying to call 2 more contacts i have at companies in attempts to get jobs, but keep getting voice mail. its sorta annoying, since they suposedly wanted to talk to me.
i think i may be thinking about possibly getting a headache, so i'll go to sleep now.
so car:
1. what? i was supposed to agonize over it for another 2 1/2 weeks
2. red sucks
3. red is wonderful
4. yay ebay
5. boo ebay
6. get a new stereo
7. i'm tired of car stuff get a new topic
Don't forget to read the update from yesterday on my car shopping.
so after failing to buy another 325i on ebay, because i didn't feel like bidding over 7K, i went and played worms. after i played worms, i went and looked at ebay again. with about 4 minutes left, i carfaxed the rx-7 the same guy had, and well got bored and bought it. pictures and such are here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2411854681
i'm up too late. we have a long ass presentation thing tomorrow, and i need to sort out registering and insuring the car, (which shouldn't be too difficult one would hope..)
not much else happened today. my computer's being slow. i think i need a job so i can get a new one. i called some alumni contacts, left voice mails. oh well.
so:
views on the new car:
1. needs seat covers
2. humans fit in those back seats?
3. it'll be happy next to mitch's '89 mx-6
4. mmm, 87 7, it runs in the family
5. shiny, red!
6. meep meep
7. wankel rotary iced cocoa
8. wow, 148HP that's tire uhh, well just uhh
MHVNet was purchased (we're never quite sure if Chris (the owner) got money for it, but anyway) by idsi, which seems to have closed sometime last year. in any case, not the best employment prospects.
The saab was horribly overpriced, $6800 or something, and book value which is high anyway was $4000 ish. In any case, not worth dealing with. So i'm back stuck in which end is up cardom.
I'm trying to figure out where I want to live for the summer, but torn between a summer sublet, which could be cheaper, and thus avoid issues like sorting out utilities, etc or trying to find someplace I can short term rent. ugh. it'd be better if a summer sublet lasted into august. I seem to have found ones that last until late july...
i got a new estimate on the MINI, its now at $40 less then MSRP, which means it depreciated about 2.5% total.
I stayed up too late playing worms with mitch, though i think i won 2 games, maybe i only won one.
i wokeup to a pile of buckwheat, well a small pile. i still need to sort out the offending pillow.
i have to actually stay for all the presentations in class tomorrow. yay, a 3 1/2 hour class. i can hardly contain myself, especially, since we all need to watch the same thing 6 times. ugh! and the best part, they seem to think we give a shit if our classmates are in attendance. ha! someone really needs to straighten them out.
no one commented on my homework. i ended up doing it this morning when i woke up. it wasn't exciting.
it seems to be getting colder. blah!
so i was in the middle of writing this, then i got sidetracked cleaning up the errant buckwheat. seems the old pillow has just sorta opened everywhere. so its busy being mostly emptied into its pillow case, but the bed's clean. i'll deal with it tomorrow.
i don't think a motorcycle would work too well. though there is that lack of a helmet law in ohio. and my lack of a license for one. actually, if i lived downtown, i don't think i'd really need a car.. that could simplify things, though it'd make my insurance more expensive to have it lapse over the summer... maybe i should just do that. oy! i think i want a car anyway, even if its crappy.
umm:
1. earwax central
2. organ scan
3. bubble goat
4. payment toothpick
5. flying donut
6. wadded pants
UPDATE: So I lookes at a '92 BMW 325i that was in the paper as such:
high miles, many new parts, body perfect, runs & looks great. ($3700)
I get there. the car was stolen, so its got a replacement VIN, and the door panels and dashboard are stuck back on since the cops took them off. But they're held on with screws. like through the panel. And all the trim is missing. Then I drive it. The radio doesn't make noise, I chalk this up to the door panels. Then I notice the speedometer doesn't work. It starts later, for about .9 miles of the 10 I drove the car. Then I get out. The front lights are sorta working, one fog works, its broken, the other is basically broken. After the car warms up, I notice a smell. Its busy billowing in quite good quantities whitish smoke while idling. So I pop the hood, it smells like burning oil. Great plan. Stupid nice car in horrible condition that no one should buy.
A few quotes:
What are these crunchy things in the tuna caserole?
M&M's, I ran out of paprika.
(Family guy...yay it being back on tv)
I don't like teeth, because I'm straight, and teeth are for gays. That's why fairies pick them up.
(Some show, that mitch felt like telling me)
Play Doh is suposedly one of the top 5 smells people can recognize. some guy just said 'i know that smell, and the taste. go figure, he ate the stuff...)
So I bought both the crest and the colgate version of the new goopy 2in1 toothpaste/mouthwash stuff. neither tastes as good as the old colgate stuff. though the crest has a nicer tip, so it doesn't ooze over itself. damn substard toothpaste (and i didn't see the colgate stuff, so i couldn't get it again...)
mitch got annoyed chipotle was closed, so then went to wal-mart. yay for easter being annoying. he then went to the quickie mart, where he accidently got the super spicy cheetos and then this watery orange flavoured green tea. how sad.
ohh, the crest toothpaste is made in the UK, go figure.
i'm glad everyone understands the car now. mommie thought a saab looked like a yuppie convertible, but agreed no car that costs $2k can be ostentatious, besides i've kinda gotten set on luxury cars, and you know, its difficult to go back to driving the 'people's car...' maybe i should go and buy a phaeton.
reasons i'd rather go to sleep then do the homework...
1. i had to get up early yesterday, and sorta today
2. i'm lazy
3. it seems popular
4. more time to savour the iced cocoa
5. because its swedish
6. mr. potatohead said so
so i'm showered. that makes me motivated to write.
i need to figure out a car, (and yes i'll get a MINI again in the fall, i guess that wasn't obvious) i looked at about 20 used car lots, and all i found was a sad '92 jetta sitting in best buy's parking lot.
i need to figure out graduation stuff, and jen and where i'm going to live.. eep.
uhh, standing rib roast is a good thing. especially if you get it from the super butcher guy at the market.
i had other things to ponder, but i forgot.
it was supposed to rain. it seems to have only rained when i had to go from the car to here.
helen's brother played auto pong with his camry into a stone wall. the moral of the story:
other people's accidents are more amusing then your own.
you should stay over at people's houses, so you don't need to be driven home at late hours.
i'll update again after midnight. good enough for me.
and no, the depleted uranium roll cage is not necessary.
well from the dept. of blah, i have to go to a meeting at noon tomorrow for the dumb project that's due tuesday. yech.
oh, and jen made me miss writing the entry for yesterday, so now i just gave up and missed the day, and now i'm back on track.
its late. i got sidetracked playing worms.
i think i should cut down on the concerts i go to. they are great, but the seats keep being uncomfortable, and they're kinda long. how sad
uhh, so yeah. the current car of interest is a saab 900 covertible. klaus said there was one on his way to work. we'll see on monday.
not much else to report.
i can't think of a quiz.
discuss saabs, and other such car stuff. i'm tired, its nearly 3 again.
well, so i went to an indians game with jen, it was fun, she got free tickets, that saved us $50 that we wouldn't have spent anyway, so we made up for it with the game lasting 12 innings. ok, so we left after the top of the 12th when the orioles scored 2 runs.
what else, not much.
i have some more job leads, the alumni guy said he got 17 people from the 4 companies i gave him, so we'll see.
i still can't believe v8 is salty. i guess i just like salt, i don't think this is news.
i'm going to get myself addicted to worms, i guess its better then getting addicted to the stupid 2 dumb assignments i have to do for marketing tomorrow (or sat, but whatever... yech!)
anyway, lauren invited mitch and 'his roommates' (but since she knows my name, i guess she didn't want to misspell it...) to her obomobo recital tomorrow. it should be interesting. i hope she plays more english horn, since obomobo's can be annoyingly screechy.
mitch, on the other hand wants to play worms, so i'm going to do that.
reasons the indians are odd:
1. no matter how badly they play, people show up
2. no one knows who's on the team
3. they don't drink v8
4. their mascot is named after a whitecastle hamburger
on other news, did anyone else know drew carey didn't come up with cleveland rocks? the song was recorded (i don't feel like finding who wrote it) by ian hunter in 1979... who knew? except all the locals. but somehow i think no one else did. am i right?
i swear i'll get back into the correct day at some point.
so what... i have an odd job lead, because the case alumni association seems very eager to use its database to help find jobs...so i figure i should work on any contacts. we'll see if i get any good leads tomorrow, since i just sent an email.
someone on mini2 said if i was in irvine, i should talk to him, so i need to ask him too... yay a few job leads
hrm, what else.... i made grilled cheese. it was cheesy
i'm out of milk. how sad, but easily fixed tomorrow, in the middle of doing laundry, which is also badly due.
ooh, real weekend, because i don't have band tomorrow!
Update: so I ordered a salad at the quasi-vegeterian restaurant on conventry, and noted it had sunflower seeds on it. not exactly my favourite, but not awful. so jen says eh, you can get it without them. i figure i'll be adventurous (stupid spelling) and get them. damn thing comes, and there's literally 1/2 a cup of them, if not more! and they get everywhere! ok. enough sunflower problems for the night, time for sleep.
view of v8 juice:
1. 'old people drink'
2. 25 is not old
3. tastes like tomato juice
4. overpriced blood substitute
5. they still make it?
6. v8 cocoa?
7. v8 should be an engine, not a juice.
crap. i just realized i have 4 minutes. fortunately that's not to do my taxes, as they're done.
anyway, i should get to sleep. i was going to get a full night's sleep.
my head itches a bit. i'm going to shower again, hopefully that will help. and postpone sleep. do'h.
i donated a pint. i swear the worst part of it is the tape. damn damn armhair. it left residue too, so my arm's sticky. another reason to shower before i go to sleep.
i drank two pints of newcastle. it was very british at the spider with val and reefi. we complained about not having jobs. it was very sad.
the car seems to be appraising somewhere around 20K, i need to continue that discussion tomorrow when we sort out all the options it has vs. their value.
best thing to do in 2 minutes.
1. finish this essay
2. chug heavily
3. clean my room
4. find a job
5. scratch head again
6. prepare for my presentation 'dry run' tomorrow morning
7. watch letterman
8. listen to more enya.
Update: i forgot, the dots on my arm to show the vein are purple. and didn't wash off during my shower. great technique to scare peole unintentionally.
and happy bday to TOWM, yes i know i've missed other bdays recently, but if you remind me in your away message, then i'm more likely to pay attention. i really do need to get that bday page started.
ok, so I need an entry in the next 17 minutes, or i'm going to miss a day.
i had my last concert with the cwru symphonic winds. it went reasonably well.
my head itches now.
the director of band didn't seem to believe i was graduating, how sad, but i guess that means he somewhat liked my presence.
i can't live in canadia, that'd mean i'd have to offer flat as a domicile option. and no one suggested it.
the MINI seems destined to be totalled, the appraiser suposedly stopped counting at 10k, because he said parts weren't readily available, there was a high salvage value, and there was a good possibility of more stuff being broken. i need to drive up to mentor to pick up my stuff tomorrow. i also need to ponder donating blood. i'll have to keep my schedule straight.
cures for head itch.
1. shaving head
2. bath of jello
3. scratching
4. grinding wheel
5. going back to fishkill
i agree 4 is better then 6, but is that really the best option? and by room somewhere, i meant more like a room in a house, though i could always live in a shelter, don't you just get a bed there, that's not a room.
damnit why does my head keep itching? ugh.
i swore we had an MB discussion shortly after you took it in law school, and you never said you were an istj, i thought you were something similar but different. oh well.
Well so I had a great weekend, minus stupid anxiety.
We went to blue point grille, and d'vine, which then has jen deciding that she really likes bogle petit sirah. handy since we tried it at d'vine, then had it again with some really good grouper at blue point(e).
hrm, what else.
mitch and val and reefi are busy writing up the stupid stat homework. the point of it was to get the 'yield' up past 80%, we got it to about 79%, (once you got past 80, you would make more money at 90 and 95) this is splendidly exciting. stupid class. stupid class i'll get a B in.
i got annoyed at how slow the paperwriting was going, and kept commenting, so i gave up and came in here. because i need to make some slides for the stupid presentation tomorrow in entrepreneurship, which is then followed by a rehearsal for the concert, which is after the presentation in stat. stupid stat.
so i'm trying to figure out what i want to do when i graduate. i dono yet. very problematic, and confusing.
i made dinner today. it was leftovertastic. chicken (which had a sell-by date of today, lets hope it wasn't kidding...) the remnants of a bottle of sauvignon blanc, some grape tomatoes and some tyme all over couscous. it came out ok, but the flavours tasted unbalanced, like i well just put whatever was sitting around in it.
jen's also an ISTJ, this is very exciting.
type of place i should live next:
1. apartment
2. room somewhere
3. house
4. go to back to fishkill (12524 is as cool as any other place)
5. loft
6. dumpster
i figure if i figure out where (citywise/placewise) i want to live, i'll be able to sort that out, and make myself quit worrying. but its not exactly encouraging to not know what direction i'm going in, etc. not like i want to start applying to work at the gap or anything as a fallback plan. hrm! anyway! uhh! (my favourite i think is eep or erp.. but they're not amazingly pondery)
or is that wuz?
anyway, i'm tired, i know its sorta early, but you know i can be tired when i want. also i didn't get much more then 8 hours of sleep last night, then got accosted at the market, so i bought like 10# of fruit from one guy. (you know, you can't turn down 6# of banannas for $1, it just doesn't make sense to)
so i've nearly finished my taxes! this is very exciting, except now i need to call mommie again, because in order to file electronically i need more info off last year's return. oy. glad i started this in advance
crapo, i didn't order anything from bean. i really need to use some of those coupons like yesterday. maybe if i get a job i can actually apply for that amex gold card, that would simplify my credit rewards. i'm too tired to deal with it now.
hrm what else.. so i got a call from the appraiser today, he said he had already racked up $5K, and hadn't touched the airbags which were $2500 (for both) plus glass, and then the suspension and other such. so perhaps people's estimates are a bit low? i expected to get a call back with what his final estimate was, but perhaps everyone's running a bit low... especially since he said the car might end up being totalled. oh well, i guess that will wait until monday. maybe i'll give out two non-existant prizes, the old estimate and the new estimate, since i gave more info.
not much else interesting i can think of. i got a package wrapped in gaffer's tape today. it was exciting. now i can add to my backpack animal collection! yay helen.
hrm...
favourite ponder word: (obviously hrmph can't be included or it'd win)
1. hrm
2. uhrm
3. urp
4. eep
5. meep
6. eek
7. blech
8. ugh
did i forget any?
it wasn't the most productive day, i woke up for the second time after the insurance person called (wondering about my not getting a rental car...) a bit before 11.
i went to band, and then met with my group, then did some more irritating work on the stat project, which is rather dead ended, so i wrote an email.
i then helped mitch finish the mini-keg of molson, (using the trusty molson glass i got from that one time at the distillery in rochester) which was reasonably good, but got warm near the end. as mitch made his last minikeg into a lamp, we need to figure out something to do with this one, i suggested a table with four of them as legs, but we'll have to see.
after that i was in a cleaning mood, probably related to them showing the apartment tomorrow sometime (several times?) between 10:30 and 4:30, i hope it doesn't wake me up...
in other news val got bored while we were doing the stupid stat (which ended up taking like 3 hours of actual futzing to get no where) so there are some grainy too low light pictures of that.
not much else to report, just your usual friday ahead... shopping, maybe cleaning my room. yay!
i think that's enough excitement for today, its nearly two, i'm tired anyway.
if yesterday was chipotle does that make today wasabi? i noticed (when having another turkey sandwich) it actually says chipotle chili, yet again them idiotproofing their product, since you know, chipotle might actually be woodchips.
aparently i'm much better at stacking dishes then reefi, mitch was impressed. they're only about 2' high. i think its rather lame, especially since there's room under the cabinets still.
i've never actually seen val's ass, (you know, she'd charge for that kind of thing) so i can't verify on the tattoos, but yes, that is pretty much the case, not like the new pictures elaborate much.
courtesy of google sets. (if you don't know what they are, you'll have to search or ask)
best oddly short band name i can think of:
1. abba
2. ccr
3. u2
4. ac/dc
i ran out. an no, marmot is not short, so don't even try to guess that, its not in the same category. clashing plaid might be if they existed yet.
well aparently no one decided to comment, but this isn't awful since there were lots earlier in the week.
umm, what else. i got 3 separate notices about the plaintiffs for the tires pleading and that i could go comment at their sentencing on may 7th. sounds thrilling, i'll have to check my calendar, but as i doubt i can wear jeans to court, i'm not amazingly inclined to bother, but maybe i should.
i'm dumbly tired, this is probably because the body shop woke me up at 9:15 to say they had faxed the stupid thing i needed to sign. whatever... i drove up to mentor, and then took euclid (20) all the way back. it was scenic, in an odd sketchy area sorta way.
i went to panini's with mitch, and a plethora (1o or so) of CIA people. odd to actually hang out with females besides val, though like all of them smoked. lindsey wondered why i always ask her how her plans to quit smoking are going... go figure
uhrm, the right monitor's not waking up from sleep. i don't feel like dealing with it, so i'm not going to put up a new away message. isn't that simple?
time i should wakeup tomorrow, assuming i go to bed in 10-15 min (2:30)
1. 8, because the world is early
2. 9, so i could imply working 9-5
3. 9:01, then i can call people about jobs for all the non-existant leads i have
4. 10:30, i only need 8 hours of sleep
5. 4:30, that way i get to band just in time
see the best part is, for the most part, i won't even read these until i've woken up.. isn't that a great quiz? its bound to be exciting.
ohh, i went grocery shopping with mitch, i got the wasabi horseradish and also the chipotle mayo. which is actually light, its only 50 calories/Tsp, which isn't bad. i think its encouraging me to make my own, since clearly i know wasabi is horseradish... i don't need it labelled, and its not amazingly spicy. on the upside, both of them are quite good, so i'd have to reccomend them for random extra flavour. i made asian chicken salad with some celery and soy sauce and the wasabi stuff, and then just had a smoked chipotle turkey sandwich with butterball deli stuff earlier in the day. (which had a $.55 off coupon if i bought at least a pound, but then the coupon didn't scan, so i was waiting for a minute to save all of $.55 on more turkey then i probably needed anyway. damnit)
val says i should be a stenographer, because of my typing speed, but i swear i don't type that fast, its just that many people type ungodly slow.
oh, also val looks like the model/stripper savannah powers very much actually, (jen can verify i suppose) in the event you wanted more pictures, i had forgotten savannah's name yesterday, especially the picture on the first page.
isn't that an odd name for wednesday? oh well. whatever
so: pneumothorax is a collapsed lung. it was explained in the pneumothorax entry, which is easily accessable in the entry on it or in the google hrmph.org site specific search
what else... as i stated (re-read the entry) this isn't price is right style, because that would favour whoever read the entry last and could guess 5, on top of the 4, 3, 2 and $1 bids. its just a straight differential.
the point is that its random. i vaguely explained the damage, its like guessing jelly beans in a jar, there's some logic, but not much.
so i dono how much it'll cost, because i think the adjuster visited today, but all i heard (through phone tag) was that i need to sign the order to order parts, so i'll probably drive up to mentor to do that tomorrow, i guess that could mean its repairable, which sorta nixes TOM's suggestion.
oh, so pictures, i was going to take pictures of the car, but there's a few reasons why not: a. its been cloudy + foggy for the last 5 days here (especially bad today and friday) and i've also only been around the car at night. neither work particullarly well with my crappy camera. b. its like taking pictures of a corpse, its just sad, and i don't feel like doing it, and since its my car, and my camera your curiosity fails to be important enough. sorry.
on the upside of pictures, i futzed with the page generator a bit, so now there's more pictures, including the only useful picture i had of val, some of the car in the snow from a few weeks back, and as requested really yellow and dark (we were in a bar, i think they came out well) pictures of jen and i from chl when we went to nyc.
so i got a haircut today. that involved the barber's clock not being set forward from sunday, which other people mentioned, so i offered to do it, i reach up the wall, grabbed the clock, adjusted the time, and hung it back. it then proceeded to fall off the wall, and the glass face shattered. my deduction on why this happened was because it wasn't hanging by the normal hole, instead someone had used one of the assembly screws unscrewed to attach to some wire, which then pulled out of the plastic, somehow related to my re-hanging it. i felt horrible, cleaned up the mess, got my haircut (which suposedly looks good, nothing too eventful) and then gave him an extra $20 to cover the stupid clock. i think its a positive thing if i time it right i won't need to get a haircut again until the end of may, in which case i can hopefully do it outside of cleveland.
uhh, not much else, this is a long entry anyway.
best thing about april:
1. rain cocoa
2. its one of those girl's name months
3. jen's birthday month
4. TOM's birthday month
5. TOWM's birthday month
6. too many damn birthdays in the month
7. Isn't it Becker's birthday too? (he's from high school, most of you don't know him)
8. damn those taxes
9. some other vaguely interesting reason
It was a super comment day. how exciting.
So the car got towed to classic, and they'll adjust/estimate it tomorrow, so i'll see.
i'm running low on toothpaste. this is exciting, i get to choose a new kind. i dono what to get, that new crest something seems exciting, but maybe that's just the advertising talking. perhaps i'll just have to see what is good at the store.
on the subject of the store, maybe i should actually get a haircut tomorrow. i can shave too, since i think the chin scratch thing has has pretty much healed. getting rid of 3 1/2 days of not shaving would be good.
val got a free burrito at chipotle today, she seemed thrilled. i'm amused too, the manager guy said he sees her there all the time (she goes once a week or a bit more) so this one was free. rather odd for a fast food type restaurant...
one of my groupmembers for the pneumothorax project aparently searched for pneumothorax detector and found this site, and an entry from dec.. she seemed very confused, and asked me if i had a website today during a meeting. oh well.
i decided limeaide was simplier, but key lime pie could be a weekend activity, maybe i can even score some keylimes. not that i've actually even been to the keys, but you know, in theory. certainly the ones i got were really small anyway, they just weren't very yellow. maybe they were just scrawny general limes.
anyway, i'm tired, and lost that hour of sleep, so its off to sleep now! yay.
on the upside of stat, they said today in class 'homework is important' so they're going to email out the update of what we're missing, so i can just fill in the few assignments i've missed. yay slacking!
i'm also glad the cut's healing, since i'm getting tired of explaining how it happened to people that ask.
to avoid price is right style competition, tonight's quiz will operate on a strict closest in any direction competition.
how much will the estimate/adjuster say my car will cost to fix? i realize this isn't entirely accurate, but you know, its a random guessing game anyway.
So I made some progress on the stat. damn is it annoying. i've decided my brain hurts, and that i'll continue progress on it tomorrow afternoon after the 10:30 meeting. i worked for 45 min, it shouldn't take more then an hour to do the rest of it.
what else... i'm all set to get a dumb parking ticket on jen's car, as she loaned me it to get home (handy how cars stop sucking when they're lent, and you're not renting them for $70 a day in las vegas..) much better plan. but it would be nice if i could find the parking permit to avoid collecting more tickets. or maybe there could be room on 116th for parking hahaha.
anyway, so i bought 4 limes at the market.
what should i do with them?
1. limeaide
2. breakfast lime juice instead of orange
3. lime sorbet
4. lime cannon
5. make first lime recipe i find on google
any other options? somehow i think suggestions might be better this time...
I think that's a fitting prize.
in any event, this keyboard isn't shittacular, so i'm not in a huge mood to type a pile, and yeah i guess i don't have a quiz either.
i went to the barcelli inn tonight, it wa very good. lots of cheese, as they seem to be big on that, (having their own cheese importer company thing) its also the first slightly expensive restaurant with big portions. like 16oz strip steaks. wow.
also they had instead of mints with dessert 2 thin biscotti, and then baby chocolate shells with chocolate moose in them, with a chocolate covered espresso bean. it was a really cool texture and taste.
oh, the other interesting thing, i have an odd scrape on my chin, its from when the mini's front right ran into the back of a parked buick (damn 4 lane roads with parking in one of them in the middle of a cloudy rainy night) that i didn't quite get into the center lane to avoid. even more fun, the car then somehow went across the 2 lanes of oncoming traffic, and got stopped by a small tree. its happily sitting in jen's driveway, so oh well, no MINI for a while, i need to call on monday about getting it towed up to mentor, i'm not sure if its totalled or not, but its very crunched, and very much a total non-incident for the pasengers. yay safe cars, boo squishing them and the annoyance of insurance and getting them fixed when i had other stuff to do.
(see, i thought that was exciting enough i didn't need a quiz... )
well i didn't get a haircut. i did manage to get to penn station for dinner though. which of course is odd, as penn station is about 2 blocks from haircut place, but it was too late to get a haircut by then.
*y* i'm tired. as if this is surprising with it almost being 2.
hrm, what else. mitch is going to OSU, so he can hang out at a 'big state school' i pointed out i had spent plenty of time at SUNY craphole, and thus could easily be exempt. but he did place an order for stuff from the market, so assuming the butcher guy is there, that gives me stuff to get, which is good.
there's another job opening in memphis. i called the HR guy, and left a message on his machine. we'll see what happens. blah stupid jobworld.
i forgot to call about my tires, i need to do that tomorrow, maybe i'll actually get them back. though now that i'm used to spinning the car on the snows, i'll have to get all used doing it on the dunlop's again. until they go bald from my doing that.
i recall when i got annoyed people ate in my car. i was eating the sub on the way back today. it was a non-cheese ruben. i think i covered my shirt in corned beef, sauerkraut and thousand island in various quantities. i guess that's the other upside of leather seats, they clean easily. i think i've gotten used to the seat warmer, they're now kinda warmish if i'm just wearing shorts. so complicated. i guess that's why VW's have 5 setting heat. i need to move someplace warm, then i'll quit missing the heated wiper nozzles and mirrors, and only care about the seats!
can't think of much else.
i think i'll go to sleep now.
i was thinking of doing a poll on iced tea, but everything that it could be flavoured with i think has already been done. and besides, it makes me long for turkey hill at wegs, even though dib's is much better, and jen seems more set on weg's sushi then their subs.
i really can't think of a good poll. i'll just try and expect people to say interesting things. like how to make an enterprise out of a floppy disk. sounds good? i thought so to. you can discuss iced tea if you really like.
today was a very nice day. i made no progress on the job thing, except for calling the random HR contact i had for medtronic santa rosa, and left a message, as i tried calling a few other times and didn't get her, i figured a message was better then nothing. i love getting ignored.
i went grocery shopping. since it was a nice day, i washed the car on the way, and more importantly vacuumed it, since it was badly in need of a vacuum. after much debate i ended up getting rally's hamburgers for dinner, which then got me eating french fries, so i had to go chase them around the car, but i guess as there was less random dirt, this was a good thing. (no, i didn't eat them, but they didn't blend in on clean black carpet, that's oddly worn. i wonder if the cloth matts will last past this summer...)
what else, uhh, i had a bunch of other things i was going to discuss. i can't remember any of them.
so i went to the spider with mitch and val. and had newcastle on tap. it was exciting as always. val aparently thinks NY strippers are gross (in theory/by actions), as this topic came up. I don't feel like spending $50 at christies to find out, but i'll take her word for it that she's works at a class joint.
hrm, what else. i slept for 4 hours from 11-3 in my nap. but oddly, i'm tired again now. and i have a headache, even after i took aleve. very odd. excuse for bed, i say.
Ahem, that horribly cheap gin was $17 for a handle, i don't think that's horribly cheap. it is a name brand, and was in a glass bottle. besides, it wasn't mine, it was aarons. i had the horribly cheap 160 proof vodka, which plenty of people have attempted to drink. hahahaha
i think i should get a haircut tomorrow. i'm getting shaggy. i had planned on attempting to wait to coordinate with an interview or some other popular thing. but jen's birthday seems like a good enough reason. (if anyone can explain the logic of me getting a haircut on her birthday, i'd like to hear it as well, but its the best excuse i could come up with)
i think that's about it. i don't have much else planned besides band.
favourite fruit normal people don't know exists:
1. pomegrante
2. blood orange
3. star fruit
4. persimmon
5. kumquat
6. fig
do normal people know about figs? whatever... its not like an apple.
Wow, i'm full.
so i heard this would be worth mentioning. So during class (at say 7:30..) I ask mitch what he's planning on doing for dinner. he says he doesn't know. this progresses until we're home at like 9:30, at which point we get to discussing options, mostly because he's hungry. he suggested pizza, i didn't feel like it, so i checked in chinese, he said eh, he'd rather have pizza. i agreed, so ordered pizza hut, which they said they'd be here in 1 to 1 1/4 hours. i went ugh, agreed (i got breadsticks too... ) and made a hummus parsley grape tomato sprout pita (you know, the odd stuff you keep in a fridge) to tide myself over. its about 9:45 by now.
at like 10:45 mitch is getting ansty, and complains. i figure its been a while, but tell him to wait. val who has been here for a few hours to just hang out, leaves at 11:15 and says the pizza won't show up. i nod. mitch gets fed up, calls pizza hut. they're closed. he then eats a largeish bowl of (large because all the small ones are dirty, and he aparently doesn't want to do dishes) frosted mini wheats. at 11:40, (you know on time) the phone rings. its pizza guy. so we get the pizza, which i swear is about as cold/warm as you'd expect it to be after sitting in a mazda 323 for 1 1/2 hours. so i ate a few pieces, which of course ripped horribly. we'll call tomorrow and see where we get. mitch is now very full. i planned ahead. stupid delivery.
(colin feril said asshole on letterman, letterman stuck his finger in his ear (it was bleeped out anyway) colin noticed this, then started talking without saying anything. it was funny. its also funny to see people from dublin attempt a bronx accent.
you know, if you're japanese and wear those hugely oversized socks, how do they stay up? socks glue (sorry, i couldn't get the flower shaped o)
so there'a an article on gin, in the times. which prompted what to do with that damn bottle of genever gin i have. (its gin that's based on whisky, and thus tastes whiskyey in addition to juniper, suposedly it was the 'original' gin, before london dry became the standard. i wonder why london dry won out)
anyway, best thing to do with genever:
1. clean toilet, make excuse for odd smell
2. give to really really desparate cleveland drunk, accompany with bottle of tums
3. make odd dutch gin molotov cocktail and ignore political problems with russin dutch.
4. marcus is russin. i'm sure he'd like it. crap, how'd i get it to be russin?
5. find someone dutch, someone must drink it
6. give it to some sober soldier in the war that as chl put it, i'm not not against.
Well I figured I could actually catchup. I'm not sure if two entries is a good idea, but whatever.
On updates, I finished my homework, which took way longer then expected, mostly because i wasn't motivated. i hope i get better then a B on it, its sorta a pain. I've gotten B's on all of the other 3 cases, and they each count for 10% of my grade. blah. not that i would care about my grades if i had a job.
i was thinking of other stuff, but i can't remember what. my pinky doesn't hurt anymore. that's good news.
i had 2 MINI discussions today. The communications director of TIIME asked me what kind of car i drove, because her friend (they went to high school together) the clued career center person aparently saw me driving. not too exciting i know, but whatever.
nate (you don't know him, its irrelevant) asked me how much stuff fit in my car, because his finace was interested in one, and would need to ocasionally take things to her classroom if she got one. (as usual i pointed out its better then most cars with a trunk) the oddest part of that of course, is he's off to work at cts corp, which would get him a GM supplier discount, and he's looking at other cars. go figure. when i told jen knauf that gm has been recently putting saturns and saabs on the discount plan (as she's going to work the same place) she seemed happy, i gather she'll do the more logical thing and not ignore the discount.
not much else to report, i should get to sleep. lemme see if i can come up with a quiz.
best uses for lint roller:
1. de-fuzzing sheep
2. cleaning wrist rest
3. entertaining myself using it as a duster
4. making up for not vacuuming the car
5. i wonder if i could peel ginger with it
6. emergency pillow, guarenteed to stay attached to your head.
(i swear that quiz was lame, but i'm tired, and didn't get one before, so i figured i was obligated)
